Readying his spear, Rodan moves up cautiously. He hadn't expected to encounter resistance this soon, but he supposed they had to deal with them.

Rodan moves to (13,37) and holds.

Ursa grunted in pain from the soldier's strike, decided to stop the enemy from doing that again, and figured the best way to do that was an axe to the vitals.
Move to (38,4). HURL Hatchet at the soldier!

Diana noticed a familiar-looking pouch hanging from Ursa's belt. She walked over and took it, although it felt quite empty. When she opened it, there was only a small pinch of powder left. She frowned at it.

Not nearly enough, especially in MY hands...

With a mental sigh, she began applying it to Ursa's wounds.

"...I apologize for taking this without asking, but you were occupied and wounded. I thought I should do what I can to help you."

After Ursa's action takes place, Diana takes his previous spot (37,4), initiates trade, takes his vulnerary, and uses it on him.

Ursa looked down in surprise at the woman's words. He hadn't even felt anything, so the first inkling he had of anything going on was her voice!

: "Ursa not mind", the big man chuckled. "Princess probably better at using medicine than Ursa, so many thanks."

Diana shook her head. If the situation wasn't so tense, she would probably have laughed at that.

"No... I'm a poor student when it comes to healing powders. If we could get to Ciel, she could properly take care of your wounds."

She finished rubbing the powder into the wound on his arm.

"I'm afraid that's the best I can do."

: "It good enough! Ursa ready to take on more enemies!"

: "...though Ursa surprised others bad with medicine too. Princess seem smart, and Ursa assume she raised by humans. Most humans Ursa met know more than Ursa about medicine."

"Raised by humans? Well, yes, of course. My father, my brothers, the servants, the captain of the guard all had a hand in raising me."

Then she registered that he had said she only 'seemed' smart.

"I'll have you know that's because I'm just better with a sword, that's all! I could learn everything about medicine if I wanted!"

Diana made a distinct 'hmph' sound and crossed her arms, giving the large man a miffed look out of the corner of her eyes. After a moment, she calmed down somewhat. Ursa probably hadn't meant anything by it; he seemed a rather guileless fellow. Besides, she was more interested in pursuing a different topic.

"So... you weren't raised with humans? Hmm. Ursa sounds like it was derived from Ursine, which is an old word for 'bear', although I'm not certain whether whoever named you that was referring to your heritage or your size."

She tilted her head to the side and looked up at him.

"Am I correct?"

Ursa blinked at Diana's outburst, not sure what set her off.

: "...Ursa say something wrong? Ursa apologize."

He listened to Diana's musings. Most of her words went right over her head, but if he understood the gist of what she was saying...

: "Man named Balthazar named Ursa. Not know why exactly, never got to ask. Died years ago. But Ursa assume it have something to do with bears if what Princess say is true." A thought struck him - he never knew that names could have meanings, and now he was curious. "Princess' name mean something?"

(*...reaches for book to look it up*)

"Of course!"

Diana scratched her jaw nervously. She hadn't often thought about what her name meant.

"...I believe it means 'Heavenly.' In some old pagan belief systems, Diana was the name of the Goddess of the moon. This other Diana could talk to and control animals."

"I suppose that would include bears like yourself!"

"Nevertheless, it's quite the name to live up to. My mother must have had high hopes for me."
