Diana dodged the dragon's fangs as his head whipped at her twice, and scored a light blow of her own, slashing it across the snout.

"I'm not afraid of you. I have too much to fight for... I have too many friends and allies standing by me to fail now."

"We will NEVER allow your kind to rule over us again!"

Diana equips the Iron Sword, moves to 6,7, and Attack Rally!

"Everyone! Show this beast what humanity can do when we fight together!"

Anita rushes toward her fallen companion, but turns her attention to Brann, her hands glowing brightly. Brann's eyes shine in turn as he raises the massive bow again as the dragon turns to face him. The great lizard screams at him with a mouth filled with teeth and flame, and Brann looses the arrow, sending it straight into the creature's throat. The beast howls even louder, thrashing around and trying to dislodge the arrow. The fighters all back away from the screaming mass of scales, teeth, and flame, waiting for its death throes to cease.

Eventually, all is quiet.

As Brann let the final arrow fly, he let out a deep breath. This was it. He somehow knew. And sure enough, it struck true, and the dragon collapsed, dead. Brann swayed slightly, and then very quickly found himself sitting, a better alternative to being face down on the floor. His wounds were finally catching up to him. Things he'd been able to ignore in battle suddenly became something he could no longer ignore. As he sat there, he smiled though. He'd killed a dragon.

It certainly looked dead...but just in case, Ursa approached the creature once its thrashing had subsided and hacked its head off. That oughta keep it down for good. Plus he figured Brann would enjoy a trophy.

As the dragon's neck was as wide around as Ursa's shoulders, one could be forgiven for expecting it to take a few strikes to come off. In Ursa's case, it needed only one.

"That's the first part." Wilfort said as he slid from his pegasus' saddle and walked over to Diana. "We'll also need to handle all our respective successions, see how we handle the Worus situation, repair our own broken relationships with Exsten... Honestly I don't even know where we're to start with Osngaria. But yeah. It's time to start picking up the pieces."

"That's not all of it. We need to determine what we're doing about all this." Armad gestured at the corpse of the dragon.

: "Well, Ursa already started on that." The big man was dragging the dragon's severed head along by one of the horns; even for him it was too heavy to pick up and carry. "Not know what to do with the rest. Bury it?"

"I'm not talking about disposing of the body. What I mean is..." Armad took in a deep breath, directly addressing Diana. "...What do we do about what we know? Our thrones are built on deception and murder. Our people pray to a god that does not exist. Do we just... let them?" Armad shook his head. "Our people deserve better. It will be hard for them to hear the truth, but they deserve to know it."

Oscar suddenly had a thought and then leaned to Diana, whispering.

Diana heard what Oscar had to say and ignored it with a shake of her head - she wasn't interested in that any more. She already would have her hands full with Durhiel alone. Instead she moved to Brann and gave him a hearty slap on the back, congratulations for a well-placed arrow, before addressing Armad.

"We know only that the dragons ruled over the land and that our ancestors killed them. For Exsten's sake, yes, but it may be that they were tyrants to the common folk. We'll never know the whole truth, I think. So we'll leave history as it stands. There's no sense in replacing it with only one person's scattered account of the nobility of a few years at the end of the dragon's reign... which, as I remember, did say the dragon Xander fought had an 'iron claw' but nothing of Xander's reign, other than that he allowed few humans to make something of themselves. Regardless, we'll take the dragon's head to prove what we did here, today."

That was the history she chose to believe, and she had always been stubborn. She turned to Wilfort to address his questions.

"Yes, we'll have to handle our successions. We'll have to keep an eye on Worus, too. I don't think they'll attack our countries, but it would be best to stay weary of them for quite a while. As for Osngaria, it's broken and destroyed; as it borders Durhiel and Exsten, I suppose we'll split it so we can both take on the burden of caring for whatever of its people remain. As for Exsten..."

Diana sighed.

"Forgive me if I say despite your help, Armad, I'm still not too pleased with your countrymen right now. I ask only this: whatever soldiers and garrisons you have in the other countries, recall them, and keep them in your borders. After that, I would like it if we remained on good terms."
