The group readied their weapons and casts spells, attempting to prepare for whatever might be coming.

And come it did. The jewel dust that had collected in the center of the pillars shone brightly. More brilliant than the sun, but with a wretched heat. The oppressive weight of magic was gone. Instead, there was only an incredible sense of dread. A great red claw burst forth from the light, then a foreleg, and soon an entire monstrous red dragon was standing in the center of the room. The beast lifted its head to the ceiling, and screamed, fire pouring from its jaws.

Armad and Wilfort were silent, pale as ghosts, with their weapons held limply in their hands. At the same time, Tyrn, Enoch, Ursa, Felicia, and Brann could all feel their weapons reacting to the Dragon.

Diana stood her ground staring up at the dragon. She was afraid on the same primal level a mouse is when confronted by a lion, but above that was resolve. Durhiel and his companions had slain a dragon, and she was the last and a true descendent of Durhiel. She would follow in the footsteps of her ancestral father.

"Humans have killed dragons before, and we're going to once more! Everyone... Let's end this, once and for all!"

Brann moves to put some distance between himself and the massive lizard, and raises Brahmastrah. He draws back the heavy bowstring as the dragon roars, flame escaping the creatures jaws. He looses the arrow, and it sails toward the creature's chest- But at the last second, the dragon dips its left wing down, and bats the arrow away with it!
