Isard sent one of his men to ride ahead to the castle, and continued moving the prisoners toward the castle. Soon, they were passing inside the main gate, which was nearly unrecognizable now. Two enormous, deep slashes had completely destroyed the gate. Inside, several blacksmiths were working on what appeared to be a replacement.

A tall man in heavy armor stood waiting, lance in hand. "Good work, Isard. You go ahead and get your men some rest. I'll have someone take the prisoners down to the dungeon. I'll be escorting the princess to her cell personally."

"Very well, sir." Isard drew a knife, and cut Diana free from the rest of the group, and shoved her toward the new man.

In the meantime, Ursa and Brann were attempting to approach the castle under cover, but it was slow going- Durhiel didn't have lots of trees like Ursa was used to, and the bushes weren't high enough to properly hide his mighty frame.

Despite their efforts to remain unseen, Ursa and Brann got the feeling they were being watched...

Ursa growled softly as he reached for his hatchet. Instinct told him that trouble was approaching, and in any case they were running out of time to save the travelers. Time to move.

Upon seeing the wild man reach for his hatchet, a young boy, no older than 8, leapt out of a nearby bush. "Whoa, whoa, okay, I'm sorry for following you guys! I was just curious what you were doing, I'm sorry!"

Ursa quickly released the hatchet. He wasn't about to attack a kid with it!

: "Ursa not mean to scare cub. Who are you, and why you follow?"

Enoch took their transfer stoically, looking around to get a better look at their surroundings before looking back at the rope around his hands. Finally the mage looked to Jago.

"Calm down, don't frown, your doom does not loom ahead. Think, don't be brought to the brink." Enoch attempted to calm Jago down. It wasn't necessarily a good attempt however.

Diana gave Isard a look before turning her attention to the new person.

"Who are you?"

The armored man removed his helmet, and gestured toward a doorway.

"I am General Eren. Current Custodian of this castle. Of course, I already know who you are. Would you walk with me?" Eren was young for a General, at least by Durhiel standards. He couldn't be much older than twenty.

~~~
The boy relaxed when Ursa moved his hand away from the hatchet. "I'm Philip. My family tends the grounds on this side of the castle. Or did, maybe? Ever since the battle, my mother says she doesn't know if we'll be staying. What are you doing on my family's land?" The boy crossed his arms over his chest, and stood on his tiptoes, trying to look tough.
"I don't have much of a choice in the matter."
Diana glowered.
"I have to ask: why?"
Ursa hunkered down to try and look less threatening. It didn't really work because he still towered over the kid.
: "We try sneak into stone building, save people inside. Look for way in. You know one?"
"Why what? Why would I be custodian, or why would you walk with me?" Eren smiled slightly. It wasn't entirely unkind.
~~~

"What? You want to get into the castle? Uh, I dunno, I was usually just allowed through the front gate when I had to go in. Can't do that with the Exstens in there." Philip sat down on the ground, face scrunched in concentration. "Hm..."

Diana indicated the black and red banners with an angry motion.

"Why this? Why is Exsten starting wars? Just... why!?"

Ursa had no idea what Exstens were, but that was to be expected of someone who rarely if ever left the woods. Instead he sat down as well and waited for the kid to finish thinking.

"My liege tells me that these wars will save the world." Eren said simply, stepping inside the doorway the princess seemed adamant not to enter. "Come along. I have a few things I wish to speak to you about."

A soldier clad in light mail and carrying a sword approached the remaining captives. "Alright you lot, it's to the dungeons witcha. Apparently Isard promised your lives, so you're gonna be helping fill some cells. Follow me."

"...Some of us already know where the blasted cells are..." Wedge grumbled to himself.

Diana followed.

"And how is this going to save the world?"

She made a disgusted sound somewhat akin to a sigh. She didn't expect him to answer that, because he probably didn't know.

"What is it you wish to ask me?"
