The man returned holding a shiny, bronze weapon. "Here. It's old, but it ought to still work. Just don't point it at your face. Think of it as a thank you for not salting my fields and burning my house." It was difficult to tell if that last part had been a joke.

Brann took the weapon with a slight smile.

"Thank you for this. I promise that I will do all I can to make sure that it is Armad taking the throne at the end of all of this. And I hope that the rest of your life is peaceful and happy."

He bowed deeper to the old man before leaving the house. He stopped by Neeya's wagon, depositing the weapon there for someone else to grab, picked up the tome they'd taken from Yondell, and headed over to the store that he'd spotted part of the way through the battle.

A woman with a short shock of pink hair was seated behind the counter when Brann entered the shop. "I've got no mind to sell to ya. Right or wrong, you're enemies of the Kingdom, now scoot."

Brann winced.

"I know that we are nothing but an invading force to you, ma'am. But we are simply doing what must be done. Your king has gone too far. All this war, all this destruction lays at his door. We do not come to be cruel to you. If we had wanted, we simply could have taken what we wanted from you, like I suspect your military has already done. But we are here to remove a problem, that is all. I plan to see Prince Armad ruling this country after this, not one of us. And I hope that you will allow us to pay you for your goods. We're not here to steal or cause you trouble. But we need some new supplies."

The woman tapped her chin thoughtfully. "Well... I suppose I could sell to you. If you're really doing the right thing. But I don't want to hear any complaints about my selection or prices, got it?"

"Once more we prevail. We are growing stronger, Diana. This fight took little time compared to the ones we had before. I am glad I survived this much to see you and the other soldiers reach this point."

"Yes, we are stronger. But the enemy commander... Give me a moment, Otiros."

Diana approached Oscar.

"Oscar, you and the enemy commander looked very much alike... was he your father? "

Anita had been reading tome when Jago walked up. She looked up and snapped it shut. Was he concerned about she thought of him? She dismissed the thought with a laugh. He was probably trying to set her up again or something.

"Haha, stuff like that happens."

The joking tone in her voice left as she continued and she looked a little subdued.

"I haven't really been all that impressive either. I wasn't able to pull my weight until recently when I learned how to use a healing staff and got this Thunder tome. So I guess that makes both of us unimpressive."

"Even just a little bit ago when I was up against one of those wyvern riders I had a hard time focusing my spell because I was afraid I was going to mess it up and be more of a burden than help." She didn't want to tell him that having him nearby had helped calm her nerves but she figured what the hell, why keep quiet.

"Having you nearby helped a little though."

Ursa waited outside the store that Brann had wandered into. He had something to discuss with the samurai but didn't want to disturb his shopping.

"Thank you very much. Hmm, going off what I know of our supplies... I think we'll need a heal staff. If the rest of the group needs anything else, I'm sure they'll come get it."

Brann buys a heal staff and then heads outside. Spying Ursa, he smiled at the bigger man.

"Good to see you back up on your feet! Are you doing ok after all that fighting?"

"Princess... a bit quieter please."

"And no... he wasn't. Good thing that Enoch killed him before I had to deal with him, though. Last thing I wanted was your other vassals tossing accusations or their weapons at me in the middle of heavy combat."

"Take a guess." He spoke quietly and then shook his head a bit.

"I will go... scout around to... see if there are reinforcements laying in ambush or something. May I, Princess?" Without waiting for confirmation, he drove his horse forward in a trot.

Diana sighed and watched Oscar ride off. She knew what it was like to lose family, and she wouldn't blame him if he felt bitter that his decision to follow her led directly to him assisting in his relative's death. But she needed to make sure he stayed loyal. The last thing she needed was a loose cannon Exstenian among her troops.

"Otiros, can I trust you to keep an eye on Oscar?"

Her tone made it obvious what she actually meant.
