"I am not sure how to do that. It seems like Diana and the others only see me as a...Guard. That is about it, you were the only one who dared to ask further than the usual questions before and after combat. So I am concerned they might not react to well if I try to speak with them."

The heavily armored Sniper shook his head and tapped his crossbow over his left shoulder, pondering about that.

"But I will give it a try sometime. Maybe you can help with me that, and as we both are using crossbow, I can also teach you how to draw and reload them faster."

Otiros only noticed now that the topic was probably too awkward, even if sooner or later they would have to think about that, it was better to leave it for another time, at least seemed like that would be the best option.

"I didn't mean to get you concerned. I am sure we both will find our paths in the future. We have a lot of places to go yet. And with what we had been learning here, it will be easy for us to follow a good career."

:"If there are any good careers left, something I'm not too sure about, what with basically everywhere in the world turning to shit."

"Quite sure they will still need soldiers to rebuild their Empires. Good soldiers."

~Chapter 9~
~Tense Reunion~

Taking their leave of Yondell's estate, Diana's company moves south through Worus. No further resistance is offered to them by the nation of merchants and mercenaries. Near the border, battle is nearly engaged when the group spots an armed Worus force, but the force immediately retreats in the face of Diana's forces. As Diana's forces continue south and cross the border, it becomes apparent that the region is plagued by bandits- though they are not the only resistance that the group will face this day...

Wilfort descended and landed near the rear of the group. "Bad news princess, looks like the Exstens knew we were coming. Not a large group, but they seem pretty well armed. All mounted, and a small wing of wyvern riders."

"Extenians, huh?" Diana shifted her weight, placing her hands on her axe and sword. "Good. I'm tired of killing people who got in our way. Actual scum should be a nice change of pace." She looked off toward the direction Wilfort had indicated. "Any good spots to ambush them from?"

Hearing all the discussion of an upcoming battle, Brann quickly strung his longbow before sliding it back into his back sheath. Checking his blades, he walked up to the two royals.

"If they're waiting for us, it's unlikely we'll be able to ambush them. It might be better to just take the frontal assault before their own scouts can spot us. Unless you think they saw us already?"

Otiros reached for his crossbow and shook his head slowly.

"I really do not understand why they are doing that if they know we will break through their defenses. But it is still a pity that we couldn't gear up before this confront."

"Oh no, they definitely spotted us. On the plus side, it looks like barely more than a dozen enemies total. Call it an even fight."

~~~~~~~~~
"General, there appears to be an armed force coming through the mountain pass. Definitely not ours."
"Then it seems the bandits will have to wait. We have priorities after all."
"Yes General."
ACTUALLY DO THIS AFTER URSA AND OTIROS MOVE SO THEY CAN GET BENEFITS TOO. Diana to 12-4, Defensive Rally because why not boost EVA/DEF even if there's no need to?
I have to stand my ground if those wyverns come this way.
Move to 13, 3. "The archery will handle the flying opponents, Milady. This will be an easy task as soon as we get here!"
"Of course we do...Diana. And I would like to apologize for not being too talkative, even after passing so much time with this group. I think what happened to our soldier friends made me get too concentrated in my duty."
"I understand. You were closer to many of Durhiel's soldiers than I was..."
"I still miss Biggs and Wedge, sometimes. I wish they had made it."
