"Ha... ah... Yes, I am of Worus. My family had sworn to protect the blood of Worus... We failed and I cannot rest until I defeat the one responsible for his death. You try and stop us but all you do is condemn your men to death. I wish you had been brave enough to surrender."

Brann had moved away from the Councilman, being both ineffective in the fight against him and also unwilling to strike the final blow against one of the men that his family had respected for so long. As he instead fought against the enemy healer, he finished the man with a quick thrust. As the man fell, a tome fell out of his hand. Recognizing it as a light tome, Brann picked it up. He figured that maybe Ceil could keep it with her, just in case she needed to defend herself for some reason.

The diminutive mage growled at the archers just out of his range, dodging their blows, but one still pegged him. Enoch scowled at them as he felt the now familiar pain of the poison move its way into him from the cursed iron. He contemplated trying to attack them. He could eventually get them all, the mage is sure, but that didn't seem quite enough, no.

Hmm. Perhaps... Yes, yes, Enoch feels this will do. Without saying much else of a word, the mage turned slightly and faced their leader. What was his name? Well, Enoch couldn't really say he cared to know, he supposes. It won't matter in a moment anyway.

Zot the Great Knight!

Pataphrax is knocked from his steed by the second blast of light from Enoch. He stirs weakly. "All that I did... I did for Worus..." Then he lay still.

With their ruler dead, the remaining enemy combatants throw down their weapons and run away.

Brann stepped toward the fallen councilman and knelt down next to him. Taking the dead man's hand in his, he stared at the carnage around them and sighed. Looking back down at a man that he might have once considered himself honored to serve, he shook his head.

"You tried to protect Worus your way, I will do the same in my way. But even though you have died in your journey, I still promise you that I will protect Worus to my last breath. We will survive. We will be strong once again."

Letting go of the man's hand, he stayed on his knees, once again staring at the remains of the battlefield. The remains of the troops that had served Pataphrax were fleeing and he hoped that Diana wouldn't order them to chase after them. He knew that he would refuse but didn't want to be put in that position. There had been too much Worus blood spilled already today as far as he was concerned.

Enoch sniffed in disinterest and started turning away before the man even hit the ground, instead turning to where the archers were. To instead see them fly off in a sprint away from the battle. The mage frowned, his hands once held up eagerly to continue the assault, now slumped to his sides.

He sighs and feels the arrow lodged in his shoulder. In a good way, but not too deep. Enoch's body shivered in pain as he pulled it out, tossing it to the ground and stamping on the iron head in anger. He calmed himself down shortly after, taking deep, slow breathes as the poison coursed through him. Between his teeth was the now similarly familiar chunk of leather that he bit down on from the pain.

Diana watched the men flee, then turned to Brann as he knelt next to Pataphrax.

"...We have to be moving on soon. Hopefully we'll be far away before those soldiers can get reinforcements."

She had given thought to chasing them down, but it would, realistically, have just been a waste of their time and resources.

"I doubt those will be back. We may face other Council members but... They have seen our skills and they have lost their leader. I don't believe they would return to face us, not after that fight. But either way you are right. Staying here does nothing."

He stood up, staring at the fallen Councilman for a few more seconds. He wiped a hand across his face, seemingly to clear away the blood, and if any tears were mixed in there... Well, he was shedding them more for his country than anything.
