(...aaaand I just remembered I needed to post here. Whoops. >.<)

Diana wondered why all the men had followed the girls to their room, but eventually decided not to comment on it.

"Oscar... if this is about what we discussed earlier, please understand I have a lot on my mind right now."

...I wish I had more experience in matters like this. I wish I knew how to tell him that I think I love Ursa... Maybe I can talk to the other women about it. Surely one of them has felt like this before.

Brann had been waiting outside in the hall for Neeya, and finally just sighed.

"I... please, can you please show me where to go? I just... I need to be alone right now."

"Ah! Yes, of course." Neeya led Brann away from the others, out into a hallway, took him past the audience chambers where the group had met Councilman Kuimer, and then further out through a large arch that led into a large garden in the back. "...This is the garden." She explained rather needlessly, weakly gesturing to the flowers and topiaries. "Would it help if I brought you some food, or drink perhaps?"

"No... Thank you but... I just would rather be alone."

Walking through the garden, he grimaced. Slumping down onto a bench, he buried his head in his hands.

He was our responsibility... And instead of being there, to help my family, I was off wandering the world because I wanted to see things. While they were agonizing over their failure, I was falling for a woman who might not even be interested in me. Yes, I'm fighting for something, but shouldn't family come first? We had a job and I... I failed."

He growled and slammed his hand on the bench, wincing slightly at the pain. Nothing he was thinking right now was constructive, but he couldn't help himself.

Neeya watched Brann for a few moments before heading back into the manor to see if the other guests needed anything.

Diana decided to pipe up on what Wilfort and Ursa were talking about.

"Wilfort means well, Ursa. He's not trying to pick a fight; he's trying to help you fit in with society a little better."

Ursa made an unhappy noise in the back of his throat. Almost like a growl, but not angry or threatening.

: "Ursa know that. It just not easy to make words right, and Balthazar more worry about making sure Ursa not steal from humans or kill someone's animal for food. Stuff like that."

As he sat on the bench, he heard his stomach growl and suddenly realized how hungry he was. Feeling like an idiot, he stood up and followed quickly after Neeya. Catching up, he asked quietly,

"Uhm... I... I'm sorry, but I realized that I actually was hungrier... It's later than I thought and just... I would really appreciate it if you could get me something. It doesn't matter what, just something small would be fine. I... yeah. Thank you. And sorry."

"Well, now that you have those... Skills mastered, we can move on to improving your speaking. Incidentally, I would be the correct pronoun to use in both those cases."

"Of course! I'll bring something straight away." Neeya rushed off, leaving Brann alone in the hall.

"Well, that's a good thing, but you will have to learn eventually. Unless you plan on going back into the woods once all this over."

...please don't go back to the woods once all this is over...

Brann smiled slightly and slowly walked back to the garden. Sitting back down on the bench, he sighed. Burying his head in his hands again, he just sat there still. He didn't know where to go from here. None of his options from here seemed right. He couldn't abandon Princess Diana and this group, but by not returning to his family right now, he felt like he was abandoning them too.

: "Bah, that long time from now. Gotta see what happen first before Ursa decide what to do. Living in woods is nice, but get lonely sometimes."

"Is that so...? Well... if you take some speech lessons from Wilfort, I think I could find a place for you in my kingdom."

"Not captain of the royal guard, though! I think Tyrn is best suited for that."

...That IS another thing to think about. If all my companions do decide to stay with me, I'll have to reward them somehow. And I could put their skills to good use for the future of Durhiel. Hmm... Otiros could be a good general, and I suppose I would need a spy network to stay safe from future attacks, so that sounds like a good fit for Oscar...Give Lucas a laboratory and a little free reign to experiment an develop for the country, though nothing unsavory... hmm...

Oscar crossed his arms on his chest and quirked his eyebrow at Ursa.

"Go on, move back to the woods. That would be the best idea in your life." He thought a little about this. Personally, he wasn't going to leave the Princess for even a day.

Wilfort briefly stared in silence at Oscar before waving a hand dismissively. "No way. He may be an uneducated wildling, but he's still human, and humans belong in civilization."

"Not that it's something we have to worry about right away. Let's focus on our impending regicide, shall we?"
