Once Ursa was out of the way, Wilfort left his observation post and approached Diana. wearing what could only be described as a smug leer. "Enjoying the cruise, Princess?"

: "No be scared lady, Ursa not hurt you."

He examined the door carefully, and identified a couple of weak spots. He took a few practice swings, then added:

: "Lady might want to step back."

Oscar put the hands behind his back and enjoyed the axe show.

The door, unfortunately, did not give way.

The wood framing it, on the other hand, snapped out of place, allowing what now amounted to a heavy, banded plank to fall backwards.

(Goddamnit, I knew Wilfort was going to want to talk to Diana and I have to go to work in an hour. >.< I guess I can try to keep the conversation going, but I'll only be able to reply at 9, midnight, 3, and after I get home, and at 9/12/3 I won't have access to mugs and stuff. :-\)

Diana raised an eyebrow at Wilfort's expression.

"...That's an odd question. No, I'm not particularly enjoying fighting pirates. Everyone was wounded, although luckily not seriously, and according to Oscar we may have rescued someone. I suppose it was worth it."

She sighed.

"What about you? You seem... chipper."

"Yes, I suppose the activities were less than amusing. You seem to be enjoying the company though." Wilfort snickered, still wearing that malicious grin. "Don't be coy, Diana. Anyone who would think to pay attention can tell that you're head over heels for that wild-man."

"Not that it seems anyone but me has noticed."

"It's Anita," she said just before Ursa started swinging his axe, stepping out of the way as instructed. She wasn't surprised when the door didn't give way and the plank hardly fazed her.

"Maybe you could've broken the lock? Could've just opened the door."

"Huh? W-what!? N-no! I, I just..."

"You...!"

After a few moments of incomprehensible sputtering rage, Diana sighed and looked down, swinging her feet back and forth.

"Well... maybe a little. Ursa is... different, in many ways. You and I can speak on more open terms, since we're political equals, but everyone else is... below us, and we're all aware of it. It makes it difficult to really get close to anyone. But Ursa... he treats me like I'm just a person instead of a figurehead."

"And, um, he did rescue me from Exsten... without even knowing who I was... just because it was the right thing to do..."

Wilfort laughed openly at Diana's display of anger. "Hey, I suppose you're like anyone else that. People fall for who they fall for, as near as I can tell. Hell my mo-..." Wilfort's face went back for a moment before he resumed a more cheerful expression. "Uh, what I meant to say is, there were always tawdry romances going on between the servants. Back... you know. Home." Wilfort patted Diana on the shoulder, though he had to reach slightly.

"You should be careful though. As he is... He isn't exactly suitable for court. I know that isn't particularly important right now, but it's something to consider."

"You're free now, that's important. The Princess is on the deck above. Blue hair, boyish looks, carries a sword. You go, I need to have a word with our axe gentleman!" He looked at Ursa with a soft smile.

Diana considered angrily denying it again, but figured there was no point.

"Well... I don't know that it's love or anything like that... but I do like being near him. And, I think, maybe... he might be able to wield Gram if we can get it away from Ansel. I mean, if he can, then... isn't that proof? Wouldn't that be the same as the Gods themselves pointing a finger down from the heavens and saying 'this is the one, Diana'?"

"Um. You don't think he's noticed? I mean, since you have?"

"I couldn't tell you. I mean, he doesn't seem to be showing any outward signs... But I could be missing them."

Wilfort's expression darkened. "And Diana, I need you to listen to me. Whether God has involved himself in this war or not, we can't afford to behave like someone wielding one of the Divine Weapons means anything. Because Ansel has been using Allondight to tear through our countries, and we can't deny his connection to god with one hand and proclaim Ursa's with another. Whether or not what you feel for him is love or... High spirits, I guess, is for you to figure out. Not some axe."

Diana rubbed the back of her neck.

"I'm not sure that it's the same. Isn't Brahmastra regularly used by the ruler of Ulfijan to protect their throne? Ansel is perverting these weapons by turning them against the descendants of the other heroes and their people, using Allondight for his own gain instead of defense of Exsten. If Ursa were to wield Gram against Ansel, it would be in defense of Durhiel."

"Regardless, there is some merit in what you say. This war can only be decided by the people waging it. We can't expect some sort of divine intervention."

"As long as the question is open to interpretation, it's not one I wish to raise. The aftermath of this war will be difficult. More so than the fight itself, I think."
