Oscar moved up to Tyrn and punched him in the back.

"My hook, didja took care of it?"

Ursa climbed down the mast and took up station near Diana. He was, as always, ready to fight.

Tyrn felt a plink on his armor and turned around.

"Ah, here you go" he said as he dropped the hook and string back in Oscar's hand.

Diana looked up at Ursa -unaware that she was smiling softly- for a few moments, reassured by the big man's presence nearby. She turned her attention back to Wilfort.

"If you get in trouble, fall back to me. I'll try to protect you."

Enoch grumbled and stretched his legs as he walked onto the deck after hearing some yelling, a strange totem in one hand and his prelude book in the other. He paused when he saw everyone had their weapons out, looking around at the endless ocean and then back to the others with their weapons out.

"What did I miss, what is remiss in this abyss of water?" The mage asked, pushing the tome into his robe as he held out the totem more clearly in his hand. Paper and ink are all fine and good, but they never did sit right in Enoch's hands. All talk and no substance.

Diana glanced to Enoch.

"Incoming pirates. We have to stand and fight, or who knows what will happen. I hope you're ready. Tyrn! Take this!"

The princess turned to her childhood friend and underhand tossed him the mostly-full bag of healing powder.

Enoch listened as Diana explained before breaking out into a smile and a sigh of relief.

"Always ready, even on such ground unsteady. I had feared this bore would stay with us until shore, a chore I wish no more. If they are wise, they should revise and flee unless they seek their demise." It was rather obvious from the mage's demeanor that he wished the pirates would be rather unwise as his hands played with the newly carved totem in hand.

Diana nodded approvingly.

"Good to see you're prepared."

Meanwhile on the ship in the distance...

"Hm. It seems our ship has come in, so to speak." A tall, muscular man turned to face his crew. "Men! I know that times have been tough. Your blades are notched! Your bellies empty! Nothing but fish and rainwater has graced our stomachs since the ships of Worus have stopped sailing. But here we are! And there-" And here the pirate captain pointed toward the Exalt, "Is a ship, doubtless carrying food, and drink, and money! Enough for us all! We'll take this final bounty the sea has given us, and then we'll make land! Are you with me you bunch of bastards!" A resounding AYE shook the rigging on the ship. "I thought so. Now let's get to it! We'll over take them, then come about."

And back on the Exalt.

Farris grit his teeth, sweat dripping from his forehead. "That... is a beast of a ship." The 3 masted vessel was clearly larger than the exalt, and as it came closer it struck it's colors and rose a blank, black flag. "The bastards know they can outrun us... But what the hell are they doing out here? Ships haven't been sailing for weeks, and if that ship is carrying half the men it can, the amount of food they'd have to be carrying..."

Gripping his sword tightly, Brann shifted nervously, waiting for the inevitable battle.

"If they're worried about starvation, they'll be even more ferocious than normal. They know that their only chance to survive is to win. We need to be ready for that."

The pirate ship comes around, allowing itself to fall behind the Exalt momentarily- but only momentarily, and soon the enemy vessel is alongside the exalt, with a huge number of pirates leaning against the rails, leering and swearing, making foul gestures and flourishing their weapons.

Farris scowls, and shouts at his men. "Set your lines and get below decks! I know there ain't a fighter among you lot, now get down there and out of harm's way!"

"WHAT?" Wilfort said, panicking. "You mean you expect us to go up against all those pirates without any help?"

"No your highness." Farris says, lifting a cudgel from next to the wheel. "You'll have me beside you, for what it's worth."

"...Well, I thank you for that."

~Player Phase 1~

Wilfort immediately mounts up on Matilda. "...They have a large vessel. If we can kill a portion of them, or damage their rigging, we may be able to make our escape."
