: "Hm... To explore the world. Sounds a lot less selfish than my reasons."

Ceil turned aside a moment to see Freya awake with Jago, and then looked up and onwards.
: "Maybe that is for the best, though, avoiding old faces. You must have been gone for some time to be all the way in Durheil."

Brann shook his head.

"Less selfish? ... No, somehow I doubt that. I left home because I didn't want to feel stuck there anymore. My whole life, I knew what was in front of me. I wanted to get away from that. And so I did. And yes, I've been gone for several years now. It's amazing how easy it was to stay away once I left."

Jago starts in surprise when Freya huge him, and nearly falls off the horse. However, he manages to stay on, and, briefly, hugs her back.

Ceil gave a bereft sigh to the side.
: "Perhaps. It's not so simple when you know you're needed back home. To simply abandon my duties to my family because I couldn't stomach the pointless fighting going on...", Ceil gave a bereft sigh to the side. But after looking over at Freya, then Enoch, she spoke a with a lighter tone, "But, then again, I know my talents are at least being used to great effect here."

Brann's mouth twitched into a half smile before settling into a neutral position.

"Think you might've gotten stuck with the wrong group if you don't have the stomach for fighting sadly. Though... I suppose if you're only against pointless fighting, there's something to be said for fighting to keep someone from using the Divine Weapons but..."

He trailed off and ended up just giving a shrug.

"As you say. You are doing great work here. I suspect we would have all died if not for you back there. We were not prepared for a fight like that. Too disorganized, all doing what we wished. We will need to be careful about that in the future. A wise enemy could have taken better advantage of us."

Oscar brushed his shirt and then moved up to Diana.

"Princess, I'm ready to follow you." He spoke eagerly and sincerely.

Otiros seemed to be stuck in some kind of thought with both of his arms crossed over the crossbow's holder, just staring at nothing, the only thing that took him out of that state was the mention of his name.

"Oh! My apologies... I am just worried about how this will end...I never had been so concerned about the future like now."

Luckily the entrance to the mine was close by. Within minutes of entering it was too dark to see without torches.

Wilfort, who was guiding his mount on foot, lit one as they walked in.

"I don't expect we'll be followed. But all the same, we can't stop to rest. There'll be plenty of time for that on the voyage to Worus. And stick close. There are lots of side tunnels, and you could get lost." Wilfort's torch illuminated dark grey stone with dull sparkles here and there on the walls supported by thick, ancient wooden beams.

Diana looked at the walls of the mine. She didn't like such dark, enclosed places, but she wasn't going to complain. She had to remain strong, for the sake of appearances.

"There's no need to linger here. Lead us to the other exit."

As they rode through the mine, Brann glanced at Ceil.

"How are you holding up? Have you been able to fix your leg more or is it still paining you?"

"Hate to break it to you Princess, but we're going to be in here for some time. This is a long passageway. We'll come out a few days away from Einjar... but we'll probably have to sleep in here tonight." Wilfort continued to hold the torch aloft as he turned a sharp corner, and began walking down a sloping passage.

"Then I'll take first watch. Regardless, the sooner we can get Freya tended to, the better."

She looked at Ciel.

"...I don't mean anything toward you by that. You've been a great help to us, and I want to thank you for your work. But Freya will probably need a lot more resources than we have on us to recuperate."

: "Oh, that?" Ceil's gaze shot back to Brann, distracted by the architecture of the mine, "It's no trouble at all, I deal with little fractures like those almost on a weekly basis. Place my foot wrong or move just a little too fast..."

Ceil angled her head to look at Brann's side
: "I would be more worried about that huge burn you took. It's seared your skin a bit deep, but I've taken the liberty to clear up the worse of it just a little while ago. Is it feeling any better?"

Her ear twitched as she heard Diana.
: "Yes. Yes she will. It takes more than a staff to help injuries such that she's taken."

"...I thought as much."

Poor Freya. This is all my fault. I should have stayed at her side, even if it meant I had ended up like that instead of her.

The diminutive brown robed mage was slowly started to come to from his wounds, remembering little beyond the soldier rushing him and jabbing a lance into his gut. Then pain, blindly searing and debilitating pain and blissful darkness. The rhythmic movements of the horse under him caused his vision to lighten and slowly clear with each trot. He winced as he still felt a faint tingling burn in his wound, a reminder of has been there.

Sitting up more clearly and with a bit of determination only to soon regret it, he tried a second time and managed to successfully sit up. Under a clear light it would be clear that the strange mage is looking a touch paler than usual and fatigued, whether by bloodloss or something else unclear though. He most certainly didn't recognize his surroundings.

"...Do the hounds still chase, must we quicken our pace?" The mage asked uncertainly. He grunted and adjusted himself in the seat.
