"I don't know yet, all I know is the gate has been breached." The prince's hair was a mess, and he was still in his bedclothes. "I'm not sure exactly what's going on- There was nothing until that blast. Maybe concentrated siege magic?"

Diana awoke with a start and quickly dressed. Once she had buckled on her armor and weapons, keeping the training axe strapped to her back for now so she wouldn't lose it, she exited her room.

"What's the situation?"

"Not sure. I saw some kind of explosion at the gate- It's entirely out. If we can get in place fast enough, we may be able to stop them breaking through. It depends a lot on what they used to smash the gates." Wilfort ground his teeth together, his hands clenched into fists. "But how? What could it have been? It'd take some kind of enormous siege engine to smash the gates, or tens of Sages acting in unison..."

A soldier dressed in light armor and carrying a bow interrupted the prince's thoughts. "Prince Wilfort! The situation is grave! Ansel used some kind of sorcery to conceal his army's approach! They outnumber us at least two to one, and they're pouring into the city!"

The prince let out a noise somewhere between a shriek and a choke. "That's impossible! Even under the cover of night, our sentries should have been capable of seeing an approaching army!"

The runner shrank beneath the prince's outrage. "M-my lord, I can not explain it. There was a haze below the wall, and then there was fire and a terrible thunder before the gates fell! The mad King's army appeared like shadows before a torch sire, you must believe me!"

"Liar!" The prince shrieked, pointing a finger. "Someone has sold this city to Ansel, and you are in league with them!"

Ursa, grumpy from lack of sleep, picked the kid up by his collar and held him face-to-face.

: "Prince must calm down. Prince must get soldiers organized. Do this or everyone die today. Now, where are Ex-tens entering city? We go stop them."

"Ursa is a damn ninja right! Worry about that later. Right now we have to do what we can to defend the castle!"

This is my chance. I just have to get close enough... I don't care if I die in the attempt if I can take Ansel with me. At least I'll be free from everyone's plots and planning for me...

Wilfort pushed against Ursa's shoulders, causing him to merely swing comically. "Do not dare to command me, wild man! Now put me down!" Whether or not the Bear-man set Wilfort down, the runner continued.

"The main gate. I fear it is already lost, though. My brothers in arms bid me go inform the Empress and Prince. If we can keep the castle entrance defended, we may yet win the day."

"Well stop standing there then! Fetch my armor and my lance, now!"

: "Call it suggestion if Prince wishes. But if turn on own soldiers, they all will leave. Ursa can smell that they afraid as is. Now time to be brave and defeat Ex-tens."

After a short moment, he put Wilfor back down.

Wilfort brushed at his chest, and shot a deadly glare at the bowman, who sprinted down the hall and out of sight. "Good for nothing wretch." The man returned shortly, carrying a thin lance, a breastplate, greaves and armguards, which he began placing on the prince. "Get the rest of your guard ready Princess. We're likely to be in the thick of the fighting, and I'll need every strong arm you have."

Diana nodded and turned to Ursa.

"Ursa, can you please rally everyone? Bring them here. Oscar and I will wait here with Wilfort just in case we're needed."

Ursa nodded and ran off to each person's room, shaking them awake if they were asleep or telling them to prepare to fight if they were awake.

(by Powder's request)

He came across the one known as Jago, who refused to wake up. Ursa didn't have time for this. Using his great strength, he picked up one end of the bed and tilted it all the way vertical, spilling Jago, the pillow, and the blanket onto the floor. He then tossed the bed onto the archer.

: "Hurry up, Coward Archer. Can dream of killing innocents later, right now is time to fight Ex-tens. Be ready in five minutes or Ursa drag you to Princess."

:"AUGHGHAGHAUGH! No, no dragging, nope, no!
Jago grabbed his armor, tossed it on hastily, nabbed his bow, and ran asfast as he could.

: "Hrmph."

Ursa watched Jago run off, shaking his head. Even he was bound to admit that Otiros and Oscar were occasionally useful (though being archers, still worthy of contempt). But this one...he didn't know why Diana kept him around. He was a coward and a laze-about and clearly had even less stomach for fighting than most archers did.

With a sigh and a stifled yawn, he continued getting everyone ready to go.

Otiros was already on the door of his room with his crossbow ready and waiting, looking to both of directions to see if the other ones were awake already.

"And here we go again."

Freya shot out of bed, change clothes and was in the hallway in moments.
:"Ready."
