I'm planning to draw something for the back story. Maybe our own Merchantlusts community flag  or something.

UPDATE

Here's my variant:

The latin phrase means "Anyone may trade". I can change it, though.

You should change it into : " Carpe mercatorem natum "
Or : Seize the merchant naked.
Or perhaps "Furtum ante ignobilitatem"
..."Theft before dishonour"

Or: Nihil exit
... Nothing leaves

"meum"

after consulting my cadre of trained squirrels (read: Google Translate) this seems to be latin for "mine"

another suggestion: "carpe omnibus" - seize everything, which is probably going to be how we fulfill our mission until we get the menial sweatshop labor needed to strip whole layers of stone and convert it into rock piccolos.

hm, I like latin (and ancient greek even more, but that's neither here nor there), but why not use DF-dwarven for our maxim?
Also, do we already know the in-game symbol of our fortress or our group? We could integrate that in the emblem.

my suggestion: « nish legan, kabat egeth » (trade is mirth, thrift is misery)

I'll remember to take a look in a few hours when I get home.

I think it's cool that everyone here seems to be taking a real interest! I like the idea of a group flag and motto. Hopefully this fort is successful enough to get some interesting stories out of it.

Although with both an At War goblin nation and a tower at our doorstep, it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

That's the coward's way out. Real merchants cage the reanimated severed limbs of their former comrades and sell them as exotic pets to elves!

6. Merchants must NOT be physically harmed, delayed, or allowed to go insane.

Deliberately killing them with zombies or sieges counts. Although, if the timing is simply bad and there was nothing you could have done to save them, you may freely rejoice in your ill-gotten gains.

Damn....

What if they become zombols? Are we then still not allowed to harm them?

If they are unable to be traded with, they are fair game.

Let the glorious banner of Merchantlusts wave freely!

I used a dwarven motto that Uristoteles had suggested: "nish legan, kabat egeth", or "trade is mirth, thrift is misery". Might also improve the whole design of the flag.

Diary of 'Argembarger' Arrosudil

2nd Granite, 551

Treachery.

Betrayal.

Just as soon as they shove us out here, the entire sick conspiracy was delivered right into my hands, in the form of a fuckin' missive.

What.

I...

And we're still at war with the goblins??

Excuse me, Diary. I need to go drink something, and then pummel something senseless immediately thereafter.

At least I know why the Mountainhome always felt like it was run by a horde of sweaty, mindless green bureaucrats.

Well...

Those smelly little bastards won't cut into my profits, leaders or not.

Wow. Judging by the king's name, I'd say our king was born somewhere other than Dwarven lands, too. There's a story there.

Don't let the goblins win! BUY WAR BONDS!

It looks like it might be too late :)

If we have  Goblin King...does that mean the Goblins will not be invading us...as we have already been taken over?   ???
