...out of your league?  Have you seen what terrible work I have done?

As a note: I haven't been working on this because of a) youth trip to colorado, and b) the book I am getting to learn the language won't arrive until this Wednesday.

Well, it appears that the library had misplaced the book and sent it to the wrong branch.  I have to wait til next week to get it.   -.-

Also, I'm going to shelf this idea for later development.  It's way too...big for a first project.  I need something smaller to start out with.  I am keeping the user's character being a dragon, but I don't know what type of game to make, though...any suggestions?

Look just keep it simple within the concept.

You have a dragon and you want to have that dragon age throughout the adventure.

So do that... A Roguelike based around an evolving character who far outstretches the old one?

Sounds good.

Also don't be sad about how your game isn't going to transcend time and space. Honestly what was going to be good about your game wasn't going to be contained in its grand gimmicks but rather in the "horribly basic" nature.

For example How was a water dragon going to differ from an earth dragon? What type of equipment do they use? Do they have equipment? Do they have skills? How do they develop skills? Is there even skills?

This is where the heart of your game was ultimately going to be. Yes what people were going to talk about was the fluff, but what was going to get people to keep playing is the heart.

What Neonevik said. What we're interested in here is seeing our dragon grow up and knowing that we had an impact on its development.

I second (third?) the above two posts! Though if you're paring back on other features...is a nature dragon a possibility? I'd certainly still play if no, but I'd feel silly if I went without asking  :P

You should be able to open it by double clicking on the .jar file, if you have Java downloaded.

Getting an error upon opening the .jar:
Could not find the main class Gameplay.DragonGame

(Apologies if i've just done something stupid.)
Should be link to the game with the fixed manifest document.

I have no idea what the problem is, and I don't have the time to figure it out right now because of a reading project I need to work on, and a turn in a modding succession game.

Fair 'nuf. I'll give the download another shot when I get a chance.

Hey Zan! I am a 3d artist. I love your idea and want to help you out.

I have a few old models that you can use:

And here is some concept art.

As for game name possibilities I suggest "Dragonfire".

I so utterly wish I had a programming skill good enough to implement 3d...

I am sorry, but with my current abilities in programming, I am unable to utilize 3d models.  I am instead utilizing sprite based graphics for the game, thanks to only needing programming that is currently within my capabilities..  How good are you with that type of graphics?

That is not a problem. I am an experienced 2d artist as well.

Here are some sprites from a NetHack tileset I made some time ago.

I can work with sidescroller stuff and animations too:
