Major Set-back to this project

I have encountered a problem while coding, when I asked about the error, after a short conversation, I got this response:

Wait... That's weird... That error message doesn't make any sense.

*facepalm*

PTW. I'm curious how one goes about for a procedural overworld generation. with libtcod I feel like it'll be pretty straightforward.

I love roguebasin. I'm working with and changing the tutorial as I go. So far, I've taken the dungeon map generation, and made it a house generator :D

Looking forward to this, though Java would be one of the worse choices for the coding in my opinion.

I'm using it because I am cheap, and it is free.

Most programming languages are free.

Speaking of cheap, free.... and powerful:
C++ using Code:Blocks IDE.  Alternatively, there are more purist free things if you go the Linux route.

And of course, C++ has a ton of libraries to use as well.  And tutorials.  And of course, being C based, wailing and gnashing of teeth, but you eventually get used to that (and of course you could easily package a game of just about any size).

You can get Visual C++/C# Express for free as well

In my opinion is it one of the better languages for getting stuff. You can't do it wrong, you don't get sidetracked fleshing out your code using language features, it is a dead simple OOP language, that anyone can write and learn. Which means you spend little time on implementation details.

It is a quite boring language. But it is quite fast(Depending on platform), and works well for small game projects.

Either way my point is, your opinion on a language is worth less than the bits it took to write out your message. OP should use whatever language (s)/he feel want to use. For a project this size it simply does not matter.

What's bad about java? Lack of libraries?

Everyone, I have an announcement to make.

Last night, there was a storm where I live.  This storm has halted progress upon work on this game, by reducing my internet speed from 45-24 kilobytes per second, down to 2.4 kilobytes per second.  The internet was how I was accessing tutorials online to learn how to code java, and they were near unbearable at 45-24 kilobytes per second.  With only 2.4 kilobytes, my access to the online tutorials has been rendered impossible, and I have no books relevant to what I am trying to do.  What I am saying is: I have to halt programming until I get internet back up to its former speed, which likely will take a good deal of time.  I was barely able to post this, and would never have been able to, if the history deleted itself except for the 'favorites' like it occasionally does.  I am sorry, but this is out of my control to do anything about.

Well, that sucks. Maybe you can check out a Java book from the Library?

I found this out solely because the link to it is in the sig-text above mine.
And I approve.

Was going to respond to this yesterday, but the internet at my house collapsed from noise on the line.  I'm trying to get one, but I had to reserve one to have it be taken to my library, because there are none at mine, but there is two of relevance at another branch.
