I just finished playing through the original golden sun.

Seeing as how Nintendo acknowledged its existence with the Isaac assist trophy and a song in brawl, I would like to see Isaac as a character in Universe.
This 1000x this. I want issac as a character.
Or anybody from golden sun! As long as they are a seer.

As long as we're asking for awesome people who'll never get in, I want CAPTAIN GORDON, DEFENDER OF EARTH!

Robo, Glenn, Magus or Ayla (Chrono Trigger)
Ozzy, Slash, and Flea should be an assist trophy, as should The Echo.

and Sprite (Secret of Mana)

Chrono, Robo, and Ayla (Chrono Trigger)
Howabout just Chrono, and have the rest of the Chrono Trigger PCs included in the final smash?

Chrono is the least interesting of the bunch though, especially move-wise. I actually took him out in an after-post-edit. :P

Oh fuck yes.

Robo, Glenn, Magus or Ayla (Chrono Trigger)

I vote Ayla.
Exactly what Smash needs is a muscled up cavewoman in a wolf pelt two-piece.

Don't know how much credibility there is to the claims that Ness or Jigglypuff could be cut, but I would be severely disappointed.  Those two were my favorite characters from the last two games.

However, so long as that doesn't happen, I'm incredibly excited for the new game.  I played the hell out of the first two in the series.  Mostly missed the third one, because my first kid kind of ruined it for me.  He wanted to play it all the time, but he was a jerk about it.  The only way to get the message across to him that his behavior was unacceptable was to stop playing the game.

Should be tons of fun this time around.

Not much, the claim is basically that Jigglypuff and Ness were added last and barely made the cut. Which suggests more about how rushed Brawl was (and it was noticeably rushed in certain areas) then how replaceable those characters were.

Especially since Ness was in the actual story mode and to my knowledge no unplayable character (except ONE) was even in SSE.

Ohh also there isn't going to be a SSE 2

Which to me is kind of sad. SSE had its problems but it always felt like something that could be fixed. I actually liked the attempt at a story.

My impression is that Ness and Jigglypuff were confirmed last because there was never any doubt that they wouldn't make it. I mean, if you want to build hype, you don't say "Oh yeah, and these guys who have been in every SSB to date are also in this one". You say "Holy Crap! Look at this awesome new character kicking the crap out of the old favorites!".

They actually did a good job of adding who I wanted to see for brawl (Dedede, Pokemon Trainer, Diddy, Wolf...) but I still want Paper Mario. Final Smash: Death by a thousand papercuts. Also, a Mii Character with a Wii-Sports based moveset.

Their final smash is to use shirt-based magic from Find Mii.

i'm pretty sure the title is literally "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS" guys
The title for Brawl at E3 was also just Super Smash Bros. It might not have a final subtitle yet.

I am iffy on the controller... the Wiimote didn't take me long to totally despise it.
Classic/Pro Controller is the way to go. It's actually pretty close to the format of the GameCube controller. I need my smash stick. :D

TRIPPING CONFIRMED TO HAVE BEEN REMOVED
I think their intended goal with tripping was "This game is primarily casual, not mostly competitive" and it pushed straight past that into "This game cannot be competitive."
Gods be praised! And it absolutely is competitive. I've been to half a dozen Brawl tournaments this past year, several of them with anti-tripping codes. Tripping is obnoxious. You can be setting up for a perfect play, and then... BAM! You get pummeled instead.

Pokémon X/Y representative, as long as it's not a Fairy-type.
I have a Gardevoir model hack for Zelda (to go with a Gallade Sheik) and it works fantastically. I can easily see that working well.

Anywho, I really, really, really want them to bring back the Pokemon Trainer. I have put many hours and far more than a thousand matches of practice with my buddies into getting competitive with him. The crippling stamina mechanic makes it really difficult, as does the need to master three separate characters, but the unique versatility is astounding. It's the only character that other people have to change their fighting strategies to face. A quick character might fare well against the slower Charizard, but there are few characters that match Squirtle in speed, or air superiority. A heavy hitter might be able to get a lucky shot on Squirtle and send him flying, but Ivysaur can keep most anyone at bay with superior range and ridiculous tether recovery. (Seriously, she can teleport if you do it right. Cancel momentum from a meteor smash, really anything you want. It's the longest tether in the game.) Can the enemy approach Ivysaur with ease? Switch her out for Charizard, who can lock down most approaches with some mixture of Flamethrower, short-hopped Nairs, or ridiculous grab reach. It's not required to switch every minute, but the Pokemon get tired pretty quickly. There are some shenanigans that can allow for easy switching, but I hope that the updated Pokemon Trainer keeps the variety without utterly crippling each of the Pokemon after a single uninterrupted minute (give or take 30 seconds, depending on move frequency) of play. The sheer versatility of Pokemon Trainer can overcome matchups against much higher tiered characters. (He's ranked 28th in the most recent tier list.) I actually managed to beat a pretty good Snake, an excellent Diddy Kong, and some sort of not-terrible Meta Knight player* amongst others at the last 50-man tourney I went to.

I uh, Brawl a lot.

*It's hard to tell if a Meta Knight player is good or just playing Meta Knight.

Personally I'd love to see "Masked Link," switching between the Deku, Zora and Goron masks.  I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone what their movesets would be. Maybe with a bit of Majora itself showing up for the Final Smash.

Nintendo still has soo many games left to represent and even Link's own games have other characters to make... another Link.

Mind you I am someone who never liked Young Link and Cartoon Link.

At LEAST your idea has a Link with a entirely different moveset. So while I'd still prefer another character, I'd hardly complain about the moveset.

Well other then being a transform character... the one thing Super Smash bros never did very well.
