He's only been in two! I mean, noone from the original roster can be removed, but melee veterans aren't completely iconic, and there may actually be some brawl veterans leaving.

I just hope that the final installment of SSB, if ever it comes, has every character to ever appear in any of the SSB games

He not only appeared in five (including DLC/elaborate remakes) but, most notably, was the main star of the very first one.

I think he meant two smash brothers games...

Fuck you if you doubt Jigglypuff for even a moment. If they don't bring her back, they can't buff her back to melee levels. Brawl Jigglypuff was disappointing.

Mr. Game and Watch can go, as much as I love him. I think Wii Fit Trainer fills his role. Plus, the villager has his Down+B.

She BARELY made it into brawl. She wasn't even part of the characters they had to have. She was added after everyone else last second.

I'm excited for the WiiU incarnation of Smash Bros, if I ever get a WiiU I'll probably play it for hundreds of hours just like I played Brawl.

I think you're over attributing the vocalminority but this runs the risk of going off topic so lets not go any deeper into that

It wouldn't matter how minor they really are. They are loud and annoying and the best solution is just not to feed the fire and include SMT in anything but SMT.
The fans SMT will looooove this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shin_Megami_Tensei_X_Fire_Emblem

Ohh they do, they are just ranting and raving about whether or not a Persona character will get in. It is rather tedious and annoying.

I am iffy on the controller... the Wiimote didn't take me long to totally despise it.

Wonder if Lucas will make it in again, personally.

It is mostly this. The fans of the SMT series are small but deeply devoted. Then Persona happened (well specifically Persona 3 and 4) and suddenly SMT becomes stunningly popular and they are outnumbered a thousand to one, Persona being to them a side game.

So there is a lot of fighting between the groups. The SMT people fighting for their little slice of the pie and Persona fighting for their respect. So in this case SMT fans just constantly rant and rave that "if a persona character gets in it will be a slap in the face" and all that.

The main SMT fanbase doesn't care about Persona and the main Persona Fanbase doesn't care about SMT... But the smaller subgroups and the trolls just make the conversations annoying...

Basically imagine if Bay12games had a Neonivek topic and 100 Neoniveks joined.

Two games to his name. It is looking pretty good.

And Super Smash bros already has a HUGE caustic and annoying fanbase as it is. Probably one of the worst on the internet...

Clearly a SMT character in SSB is a sign of the end of the world.

Huh. I wasn't aware of that. Both series are fun IMO, but it's fairly obvious why persona won out in popularity (heavy focus on characterization beats complicated, difficult dungeon crawler/JRPG elements for Western audiences). This is getting OT, but it's an interesting topic.

Persona won out in popularity mostly because it has qualities that lend itself to being extremely popular.

Just like "The Void" which is a great videogame is one that lends itself to being extremely unpopular.

Mind you if SMT had a character it would probably be Jack Frost.

Huh, really? All I can think of is Mother 3, which doesn't really appeal to Western audiences as much since we never got it officially. Though I could be forgetting something really obvious and dumb...

Right now we know they are making a lot of cuts but we don't know where.

We could go by who barely made the cut in Brawl but that would mean Ness and Jigglypuff are likely on the cutting room floor.

I wouldn't be so sure about Ness being cut considering that Earthbound is getting put on the virtual console

Ness and Jigglypuff have been in every Smash Bros. game to date. I doubt either of them will get cut.

I never knew this, actually. I've been a fan of the series for a fair number of years now and own five of the titles, and enjoy both SMT and Persona.
A series is allowed to have games of multiple styles within it's blanket. Do they also get butthurt over the Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha games for being realtime action, or Devil Survivor for being strategy RPGs?

In terms of characters for Smash, I would definitely like to see someone from Castlevania. Simon Belmont or Alucard would be the obvious choices, but Soma Cruz or Shanoa would also be cool (though entirely not going to happen).

Lyn from Fire Emblem: Sword of Flame is another impossible one to play especially since she is already an assist trophy, but would make a neat high speed attacker. Alternately Gilliam because I don't care what people say, he is the best General in Fire Emblem.

Also Rosalina.

Replacing Marth would be like replacing Pikachu or Captain Falcon. He's iconic to the game series he's from.
Just put a mask on him and leave it ambiguous.
