Oh no that's not what made me sad. I have a bit of a grudge towards competitive gaming so it was the other part about him not being part of the balancing that made me sad

To me it is that Sakurai didn't understand that even for a party game to work, there needs to be SOME competitive edge. As otherwise it is just a farce.

Also Sakurai not being part of the balancing is a GOOD thing.

If a guy needs to design his game around preventing people from having fun, he probably shouldn't be involved with it anymore.

At least he is hands off the balance.

I didn't really care about tripping at all. Never really noticed it to be honest.

I didn't know that was a thing until now, though I think I know what it is. I've never viewed SSB as anything more than a game to spontaneously play with others, win/lose a few rounds then move onto another game.

I always thought I was good at SSB.

And then I played Melee against a couple of friends I hadn't played it against before.

that game destroys families and friendships.

The number of times I've been screwed over by tripping is roughly equal to the number of times I've been saved by it.

this has turned into more of a discussion of the game than of new characters. :/

*shrugs* Only potential characters I care right now about are if they put Chrom and then wishful thinking of Lucina as an alternate marth costume or something

I'd like to play as one of the Atlus demon summoners from any of their various games. Or even the guys from The World Ends With You.

I don't want Atlus SMT characters anywhere near SMB... mostly because the SMT fanbase are just full of hate.
