"I suggest that it would have been better had that shotgun been close at hand upon meeting with the creature."

You do realize that our enemy does not breathe? They don't need boats to reach the island they can walk straight along the bottom and we'd never see them coming.

We need to get moving, it's pretty likely we've got vamps on our trail.

Climb into the other rear seat, look for signs of living humans as we travel.

Hmmm, how much do we know about where we are? Do we know the area or just a vague idea based on what we can see.

Hmmm in that case, head for the nearest town. We need a better car and to get more supplies.

Might find some humans as well.

The group gathers their supplies and puts them into the suburban, the confer for a while and decide to travel to the nearest town. They begin to travel over the roads, travelling slowly as they have to avoid crashed cars, fallen tress, and the like, as the pass through the surrounding areas they see signs of fighting, burnt ghouls, dead humans, many where old, from the first few days, but a few looked to be fresh. The group silently moves on. They will arive in the town in four hours, and it will be about 5 in the afternoon when they arive.

Keep an eye out for any humans as we continue on to the city, don't stop unless we come across humans, we need to reach the town by dusk and find a place to hold up for the night.

((I suspect that the typical zombie operating instructions are something along the lines of: Locate human, eat human, locate human, eat human... This would lead to most of them moving on after a successful battle. The ones that remain would likely be the runts and cripples. So upon finding a group of deceased survivors, it is probably beneficial to make some attempt to locate their supplies. Though there is no reason to believe that we are the first to find any given site, or that all of the survivors, didn't...))

(( We didn't get out of the car guys, and the bodies ain't eaten which suggests the survivors won and they'd have taken the supplies. We'll find what we need in the town and this means the enemy is on the roads so we need to keep moving. ))

The group continues to travel to the nearest town, they pass through the worst of it and make good time, arriving an hour earlier than they expected. They pull up into the town seeing no human life the continue on, they see a few buildings they want to look through, a grocery store, a sporting goods store, and car dealership. They make good time looking through the grocery store, which is oddly more empty than they would expect, but they still are able to pack many days worth of food into the car. They pull up to the sporting goods store and take a while opening the locked gate on the outside, as the enter they are confronted by two teenagers, about 17 or 18, geared up in football pads and other things as makeshift armor. "Go away!" The larger of the two says as he hefts a baseball bat. The other one leans behind him aiming a crossbow at Tooper. A voice calls from behind," Its fine boys." And an attractive redhead with striking blue eyes steps out from behind them wearing some shorts and a low cut T-shirt that is about a size too small, and carrying a supersoaker and wearing a set of knives on her hips. "Hello lads, welcome to my store" She smiles playfully.

Looking at the girl for a moment Topper eyes her up and down then grunts.

Small and weak, but you can be trained.

Approaching the pair of men Topper then looks at the larger one for a moment nodding.

Strong and not afraid of a fight, good you will make a fine hunter.

Turning to the last man Topper smiles and extends one hand out to his side then seeing the boys eyes track the hand he snatches the crossbow from the boys hands and reversing it he rams into into his stomach hard enough to drop him to the ground.

You are brave to point a weapon at me, if you ever do it again I'll kill you.

This done he steps back looking at them.

You can all be trained, you will become hunters and join my war.

Having spoken Topper then set off into the store to locate a large backpack and a set of all black armor pads for himself then grabbing a shovel he will head to the park in the center of town and dig up the hidden stash of 3 sets of hunter kit.
