Building a new God
« on: June 11, 2013, 10:32:36 pm »

Has anyone ever attempted to build something like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Numidium? It just seems like a perfectly dwarven thing, building your own god. Any ideas on how to make it special and more than just a giant metal structure?

Capture uninvited guests, dragons and clowns inside it, making those with cloud syndromes or projectile attacks defend it. Fire through its mouth, gas through its vents, lava from its nip- I mean ears, all manner of trained beasts released through its toes, an advanced multi-target water cannon from its fingers. Stuff like that, I guess.

Yeah, I suppose it sort of is. Is there anything you guys can think of to put a new spin on it? Perhaps something that almost instantly wipes out my dorfs when I activate it to perfectly replicate Anumidium. Clowns might just be the best option, maybe have an umbilical connecting it to the circus? And then a lever.....oh yes....a lever......

Gonna be a pain to get all that brass though.

You could also do Akulakhan and make your fortress a cultist-infested nightmare of insanity built around and inside a volcano, and if you embark on a properly evil area, create a Husk army to defend you.

Well the insanity is going to be a given either way, but not a bad idea. I'll need a way to spread dust and syndromes though....

The SCP Foundation will want to speak with you.

See, that's a whole other idea entirely. Capture all the horrible creature that come your way, contain them, and commence experiments. That'd be pretty damn awesome.

Hell, why stop at the creatures?

Pity there isn't more cool things MB and Titans could do in this vein. Sure paralyzing dorfs and ripping their throats out is "horrifying" but something more "scary". Like some sort of Slenderman that teles around. Although I guess that's kind of the Bogeymen.

Maybe it's just hard to make a scary ASCII game :P

Yes! Let us mess with the raws to test the resulting creatures!
Half-elf half-dwarfs!
Badger-sponges! create the best of both worlds!
Oh! Create a creature that spawns water and another of its species when it dies so you can create a death-fueled waterfall that brings food directly to you!

Being a huge TES fan--especially Morrowind--I am pleased by the direction this thread has taken.

IDEA: Get insanely OP dwarf champion. This is a must. Build the structure while you wait.
Once the champion dies of whatever cause, take their corpse and cast it within an obsidian statue at the center of the DorfZord.
???
Profit!
