Not really. I friggin' hate wood. :P Ever since the ice storm, what, 5 years ago? It seems like all I do half the time is haul wood around. Neither my grandpa nor I are in that good physical health, either. :\

Thanks for the thought, though. I appreciate it guys. ^^^

Yarr! Oh wait that's for pirates.
Anyways hopefully it won't be too bad. We need our princess :>
I think giving Diana the chance to get her class weapon would be a good thing to do *hint*

Yeah, I'm hoping it won't be either. If he can repair the splitter we can probably still get half of the work done today and the rest tomorrow if he feels up to it. He won't need the wood until winter comes back around, but we're sort of also doing this for his church since the tree is partially on their parking lot. Kinda works out for everybody, so I don't begrudge doing it; just being away from you all. :P

I might be out as late as 4:30 or so though and that's going to suck.

Best of luck SC, sorry to hear things are going poorly so far. But things can always look better though, yeah?

@Solymer (Anti-Mage Fencer): Essentially gives an effective fourteen for your chosen weapons. That should handle all but the broadsword. Being a fencer with an effective CON of eight and using crushing weapons is gonna be suffering however, considering you'd only be able to use the wooden sword without it cutting your SPD down horribly. I would suggest at least a one investment to ease the pain of the beginning.

For dark magic, you'll find fourteen still losing you a point or two on SPD depending on which selection you choose. I'd personally suggest Dread, due to prevalence. This is where any early investments in CON would be most appreciated, but by the time you can use it your speed should be able to take the hit without too much damage or loss of ability to double, assuming you have a high speed.

@SC I hope that's PM and not AM.

Xan remember that having higher proficiency in one type of weapon doesn't mean you can't use others. A fencer gets access to a Royal Rapier, which is an excellent weapon with quite a lot of uses.

Yeah, PM. For reference that's about four hours from now. Not sure when we'll be heading back out yet.

EDIT: Scratch that, heading out now. See y'all later.

@Soly: Very true, although your variety sinks a little in the other categories. But the rest of the swords are rather light, and barring a few of them one can use the gamut of them easily enough to make up for that.

I suppose nothing stops one from specializing in, say, Thru weapons as a fencer and then switching to Crush as a Shadow Sword though. If the GM allows it, that is, some may have you just carry on the proficiency.

Pretty sure the subcategory you choose for first class is what is used for the promoted class too.

At least, round here it is.

Have you guys come to a consensus on what you'll be buying? Protip- Leave 500 gold for a new Heal staff.

Yeah, I tacked on the last bit in a not-edit when I figured it would be largely GM dependent. I also endorse your tip, we should save for a heal staff. Those things are lifesavers.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Clear predicate in the book versus logical sense in that people can change their minds, either players or characters.

- Book
-- Save yourself a question come promotion
-- Better sense of progression and balance as people couldn't swap from light to heavy weapons when the weight means less.
-- If a weapon selection doesn't pan out for somebody/their character, they don't have any choice but to bear the mistake.
- House Rule
-- Extra question come time for promotions
-- More forgiving of mistakes that players made when they were less experienced at the creation of their characters.
-- People can take advantage of and swap to heavier weapons when the weight means less.

I'd take the middle road and say that in most cases the book's ruling is as it is, but there would be select cases I would allow people to change. Anti-Mage fencer case earlier? No. Poor decisions during CharGen because of inexperience/poor luck/poor planning? Yes.

Oh, because I forgot to say so earlier, just letting everyone know this is my only day off this week, and I'm going to be working 8 hour days for the rest of the week, so posting for me will, barring short OOC phone posts, be restricted to a few hours in the morning and 2 hours if I'm lucky at night.
