Nobles. If they aren't scheming, they're being shoved aside into nook and crannies due to being several iterations down the line where they will inevitably rise up in power and become a schemer after their family meets an 'end' by 'evil guys' who try to take over their empire.

I don't doubt they garnish their food with that panacea-like antidote.

Most likely. Few advisers to the king/queen are often good. At the least, they usually play some minor antagonistic role before admitting they were wrong begrudgingly, or are the true power/decision maker.
The prophet is telling the truth.

There's a reason why Diana is my favorite FEF character of the _{chrisleodianacoleenkatshaundra} six characters I've had: she's probably the most interesting, followed by Kat. I like how she's constantly torn by what she should do, what she has to do, and what she wants to do, and how bad she is at dealing with it because she's honestly a little sheltered and naive. She's only human, after all.
