I hope Haspen doesn't mind me handing you this. He probably won't.

And you can go like hundreds of tiles on both axes. Not really an issue.

I mean the file's size. If the animated map is 10 times bigger than the regular one it could be a problem to upload. But if I can use cleverly places layers to make it about the same it's going to be a big help for those with crappy internets ^^

Well, if what you mean is you plan to animate the sprites (ambitious), I wouldn't be able to tell you how big that's going to get. I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of three times, since there aren't many frames for the map sprites, but again, I don't know.

Yup, that's why I said testing for layers. While working on gifs I found some interesting tricks with replace layers that could save a lot of space.

What I had in mind for animating were the chars sprites to idle like they do in the game and water tiles and the like. And maybe the focus animation for the slowpokes

I don' think there are separate water tiles, so you'll have to make new ones if you want to animate rivers. Still, this all sounds pretty neat.
