It does seem to drive people away. I've been there about a year and a half, and we've gone through... Either four or five managers so far since I started.

I must admit, I laughed at first but then resigned to the idea that it may be an unofficial motto or something.

Be something like that ToS that tricked people into signing away their souls as a joke, or Google's 'don't be evil' motto or something.

Oh no, that is company policy. The only way to get a raise is to be promoted to management, and then I think it's less than another two bucks an hour. And then, no raises, forever.

It isn't exactly a good long term career.
