On the side doesn't count. That is definition of "Who cares?" :P

So this is only relevant if we're talking about main characters? And you say you like story.

No, what I am saying is... That "Ohh my... sexy characters over there..." is kind of weak.

and I already established that in general games consider prostitutes "Something you shouldn't care about".

Besides as I also said Saints Row has sold less copies from start to finish then Grand Theft Auto has with its latest game alone...

Yet which one amps up the sex and makes it unavoidable and constant? Hmmm... The one with lower sales :P

Well GTAV is kind of a bad game to use as an example given that Rockstar's Modus Operandi was hyperbole and cutting social commentary. It's not really fair to call them out on breast size when everything else about the game is equally ridiculous. I'm not sure i'd say they "exploit controversy", that's a strong allegation, but they definitely tend towards more outlandish characters. Which is fine I think, hell every character in that game is fun to watch and to play as. In fact, outside the strip clubs, I never really considered the sexualization of women very strongly at all given the rest of the content of the game.

EDIT: I second Neonivek's points as well.

You shouldn't... They don't exactly have problems in that department. The women tend to be realistically proportioned and often realistically dressed as well for their professions or role.

Generally, i'll admit that there's a fair amount of cleavage, but uh... Just walk around L.A. or Miami and suddenly it'll seem pretty normal.

That and frankly it gets a benefit of having a gambit since the sizes of women's natural breast sizes go from non-existence to 48V (Which is a fantastical size by the way).

It is why I always make sure to see how the camera and game treats a female character before I immediately judge them based on breast size alone. The usual tip off between "Hey she just has big breasts get over it" and "OHH GAWD BOOBIES!" is jiggle physics or male gaze. The other is that if there are other female characters, what are their sizes.

Though I admit I could count the number of large breasted videogame characters who passed this test on one hand... But I still say it should be done.

They quite literally brought in utilizing controversy to sell copies.  (From start of link to around the seven minute mark) (Short Version)

So....you should ignore "prostitutes" even though this whole conversation is about sexual pandering....because you consider them beneath your notice, because the devs consider them beneath notice and not to be taken seriously.

I guess if the world agrees to the Personal Entertainment Code Of Neonivek, this makes sense. Or maybe you take the holistic view, and don't exclude any part of game for what it says about the intent behind putting it there. I feel like you're trying to score semantic points here and missing most of the field for it.

I'm playing GTA 5 now and....I don't agree with this statement.

There's a fine line between cutting social commentary, and draping it over good old fashioned pandering.

GTA San Andreas got pretty crass, both with the models and with the VOs.

Sounds more like a conspiracy theory, besides, a HUGE amount of games went through the same process, and using PR in an illicit way is pretty much part of the job description. Even if that's what did happen, it's really not indicative of the series as a whole. Just look at San Andreas, 4, and V, they're fucking AMAZING games in both story and gameplay, so I call bullshit on you sir: controversy isn't exactly their main selling point.

These people frankly will say anything to "prove their theories" whether it is remotely true or not.

Carmageddon for example actually sold more on its car destruction mechanics then anything else.

I'm playing GTA 5 now and....I don't agree with this statement.

Really?

HOLY cow... Your right QUICK get a Parka!

Low Cut Dress? BURN HER WITH FIRE!!!

But I am being unfair, clearly these are the modest women... lets get someone in a Bikini... CERTAINLY she must be sexualized to an unrecognizable mass!

http://www.thegtaplace.com/images/gtav/screencaps/trailer3_michael_009.jpg

Wow... how... really modest... sure are sexy there...

Uhhh... I am not sure my joking attitude towards you is showing Nenjin or if I am coming off as hostile  >_>

But honestly I looked and even the women while naked have modestly big busts far within the realm of everyday women's breasts... With clothes that aren't really all that scandalous compared to the beach or pool... I guess I need to see the strippers.

Actually hilariously the guys in that last pic are more sexualized with oddly oiled up skin.

I'm not even going to bother finding the links to the sex scenes, or the Yoga teacher doing sexually suggestive positions. It's not Saint's Row level of gratuity, but it actually manages to be naughtier in plenty of ways too. So again, I don't agree.

And I am looking at exactly what you posted and... I don't agree with you either.

Heck... that last one? Is SPECIFICALLY a prostitute.

Not Saints Row level of Gratuity? Heck... Isn't even Pokemons.

It was for a level of comparison... But if you wish

I don't really need to go on... the second example is really as far as I need to go.

So no... GTA V doesn't have issues with realistic proportions on women...
