Artsy indie pixel garbage

This does NOT include indie games that just have a retro style, such as Undertale and Cave Story.
If "pixel art" is the punch line then I would be inclined to agree with you in most cases. To illustrate my point, would games like Undertale and Cave Story work if you substituted traditional art? Probably, yes.

What I don't agree with is people bashing games just because they feature pixel art, which is a thing people do.

I feel like, if someone made a fully fancy-arted version of Undertale, the sheer amount of feels would make the game impossible to play.

Bashing just because the art isn't fancy, though, is just no fair.  But this is Dwarf Fortress, we don't have that problem.

I tried the undertale demo. I couldn't get past the painful music. #sorrynotsorry

Painful music? That's certainly the first time I've ever heard people complain about Undertale's music. Most people think that it's amazing. Or at least not painful to listen to. What was so bad about it?

I've heard it more than once on my side of matters, though I personally find it tolerable as background fluff.  Some people just don't like the style, which doesn't surprise me too much.  There are various styles of music I cannot stand as well.

I find Undertale's soundtrack to be very hit-and-miss. Death By Glamour, Megalovania and Bonetrousle are all amazing, there's a few neat ambient tracks like Pathetic House and But Nobody Came, and the rest vary from passable to ehhh.

... Not really representative of the majority of the music, though. I think that may be the only time you hear it in the game.

This video will, without fail, be at least 40% composed of intro and outro animation bumps and that "personality" begging me to subscribe to their channel. The other 60% is gonna be filler where they mumble through half a dozen people who "requested the video", followed by three sentences about what's actually going on. Cue long outro and begging for subscribers. Mega-bonus if a sponsored fansite plugs for Youtube McWhore on their news articles. Coz I REALLY wanted to spend 20 minutes digging through this crap for the 1 paragraph of information that could be done on a forum post with 2 screenshots. Assholes.

My whole problem is the disproportionate time it takes to sift past that crap and find sensible people for the games I follow. I grant you I don't follow really time-intensive games anymore, and mostly just needed to rant somewhere.

On a similar point - though this extends well beyond just gaming - the prevalence of "video answers" to simple solutions. It is completely unnecessary to have a 10 minute video explaining something (usually with poor audio to boot) that could be done in five sentences in bullet point format.

I blame google/search results for this as much as the video creators themselves, both for those results ending up high in the list (to be clicked on and further ranked higher as a result) and due to the monetization of videos.

yeah, that's entirely intended to sound overly cutesy and a little annoying, and if you watch the entire video you'll immediately see why

unless you're talking about the text sound, i guess.

In all fairness there is the old saying "Intentionally bad, is still bad"

It is why parodies go for stylish suck rather then outright suck as an example.

How would you make stylistic suck for Flowey? That music is kinda based around his entire character.
