Maria Ryan, magical girl, who turned into a scary woman who could summon gods, couldn't save her friend.
His sister had never once failed. Not ever.
So Alistair cried too. He cried for his sister. His sister had never failed. Not truly. Until now.
((Apart from school stuff. But then again, doesn't involve magics, so...))

Maria continued sobbing, muttering "Why him"s and "She'll pay"s under her breath.
