Are you trying to preempt possible un-suggested suggestions again?
Not really pre-empting an un-suggested course of action, since there has already been party debate on it.

Actually, I was trying to justify further non-participation in the Demon Wars.

Anyone else getting the feeling that nothing further of importance is going to be discussed before the next update?

It's quite possible. There's not really a lot for us to suggest here, at least without going into SHENANIGANS! territory. And I for one am not really seeing much potential on that front.
Maybe I'm just not sleep-deprived enough yet  :-\

Sorry for the late update – I did feel a bit stumped plot-wise, especially with all the tension that build up during our escape vanquished and the subsequent scenario-change. Also, travel preparations. Tbh, don't expect too much in the ways of updates for the next few weeks, they will be more on the far-and-inbetween side.

On a side note, that hall really turned out way too big. Oh well.

As soon as you enter the great hall, you see that Zalderik – the local Lord – is awaiting you, the two others already in deep conversation with him. A short talk with him puts you on top of things, and your companions fill you in on the rest. Zalder is also putting his newly-gained riches to good use. The later banquet is very festive, impressive given what little time has passed since you captured the whelp. You wager he was going to hold a feast anyway, but do not really feel offended by it being held in your name instead.

The gathered  people are somewhat afraid of your new possession, but quite interested as well. Zalderik himself is a bit  sore about the whole matter, seeing as the wind spread the fire to most of the southern fields. Especially the peasantry would gladly lynch the scaled troublemaker, but since Zindal already spread your story about the demonic influence, the local nobility and mages seem content for now.

The Beastman is a bit annoyed that you have not dressed up for the occasion, but there's only so much you will do to please the nobility. After relaying the events in a more official way, the feast begins. After some initial inquiries by various people, the mood becomes that of drinking and gorging one-self on the presented food, allowing your companionship to discuss the matters at hand.

"Well, if we are talking about jobs, that Lord would have told me about some bandit troubles in the southern parts. He only did mention it to me, but since he added something about them having mages, the local ones not willing to help and that he will give out a reward for anyone finishing the matter, I think he was only being politely-subtle about wanting to hire us. Nobles."

"You know, while i was the one to delay us here for more than the original contract, the purposed necromancer in the next duchy was our initial goal. Pretty unsubtle fellow, as he was exposed as one of their local mages..."

The talk goes on, and as usual you have many options available, in half of them you do not even need to leave Southfahl. Most of them seem viable, seeing as your spellery is impressive indeed – not that your companions weren't, but let us spoil you for now. Actually, there is almost always some work to be had, only that you better not choose some, unless you want to participate in a private feud, rebellion or similar. You are also able to handle out 3 more days to "stabilize" the dragon – any more and you think the vulpine would talk about taking it north again. Sure enough, if anyone knows about dragons, it's those guys.

Their excessive talking is making you weary somehow. At least your former master kept to himself and his theories, instead of babbling on and on. You also try to influence the bond when the sorceress is distracted, but it does not budge even in the slightest.

All the festivities and assorted emotions gave you around 3 mana in total, but the sorceress drained it when she became aware of it. While you were in possession of said mana, you actually could gather a bit of your will, and for now you keep it at that knowledge. There really would be a better time and place to study this than in these halls.

Thinking back on it, you always were at this level of awareness when Abredas held sway over you. It did not cross your mind that it could be any other way, and as such you never tried, nor did you have any reason to. Until your life was at stake, that is. You sure do hope that it won't take similar circumstances this time.

The "Undead Troubles" quest seems too...iffy.
The "Basilisk Cave" quest seems to require a level of subtlety and intellect not possessed by these adventurers.
Out of the remaining two, "Demonic Cult" is more ideal due to its higher payoff and getting the warpriest to shut up. In fact, that payoff is by far the highest of any quest...

Demonic Cult

The Tin-Scraper Boys? Meh. As noted, it doesn't pay as much, and I don't see any benefit of it over the Cult.

Okay, yeah, I got that, but why couldn't we do that with the Demon Cult quest?

Demons.

Lets go with something a teeny bit less deadly first.
