They're spread out behind us, thorough the town. Which is a whole lot better than spread out around us.

a) Having a plan for every/ most contingencies is a good thing though.
b-d)- Fighting the adventures to steal the amulet > Fighting adventurers and guards to get the amulet.
      - I meant as in after days of captivity / prowling around in the wilderness surrounding the town later
e) Our chances of escaping now are already small, and will only get smaller as time passes. The guards got more than enough men to lock of every escape way. The mages might know stun or other annoying spells, or maybe the heroes decide to show up. Our time is limited. Us vs 5 guards beats us vs 50 guards + mages + heroes.

2. Arguable, and it doesn't affect much...especially since your plan had us burning the town.

a. Plan? "Take the amulet and scram. Once we're safe, perform a nondenominatinal service of thanks."

b-d. And what about stopping a moment to chat changes which will happen? Will diplomacy sap our fire?

b-di. Ah. I thought you meant my "Try diplomacy first" plan. Yeah, I agree.

e. We have ways to avoid walls and such. Just like cats, except we can glide, illusionate, and (if we need to) burn.

How is us vs 5 guards any better than us vs 500 guards? We still lose.  We barely survived us vs 2 guards, and that was when we weren't exhausted and weren't surrounded.

We can't effectively run, and we're too outnumbered, outgunned and outmaneuvered to engage.  If we intend to survive, we need to shift this away from being a fight or flight situation.

While remaining on rooftops, get as much cover from ranged attacks as we can reasonably reach with no stamina.  Request parley while playing evasion/defense.  Under no circumstances attack first.

Hm...that idea sounds better than trying to feign a divine voice. Sounds pretty good.

Use illusive magic to convey parley request if our voice is too, you know...soft.

It is when running away. When can hope to outsmart/ outmaneuver 5 guards.  We can't do that with 500.

At this moment we basically got this choice.

1) Attempt to escape.
      a) Out of town
      b) Back into town
2) Imprisonment. The GM said as much.
3) Fire and chaos. [Not really an option due to GM information]

An option for the first would be to cast an illusion on one of the guards, of us disappearing into the distance. Considering a price appears to be on our head, they might be rather happy to believe it.

Hmm.  If you make the captain of those guards believe he can see you on the roof of a different (distant) building, it might be enough to get him to send at least some men that way.

We were running away when we tangled with the 2 guards.  That didn't work.  Why would it work when we're winded and there are more of them, surrounding us?

We're in a high position, and can glide.

But yeah, but mostly because we don't have an alternative. We can run, be arrested or attack.

I like the illusionary-escape-covering-real-escape plan.

We could hardly run from 2 guys. Running from the entire guards + mages + whoever else shows up is rather optimistic.

Face it, the choice is escape, or imprisonment(I doubt we will be able to obtain anything else via diplomacy).

We were in an alley at the time, remember, and they were just about close enough to kick us.

Being on a rooftop, neither of those is true, and our odds are much better...especially since we could well just be running long enough to lose them before hiding.

Our odds are negligible if we wait though. There's only so much we can do while exhausted, after all.
