It's an illusion, it isn't real. Can't do lasting damage. (Besides psychological traumas).

Otherwise well, we have pretty decent weapon. Full blown illusionist could create deadly shockwaves.

I think it's the latter. Deafening sounds might be higher-level, but sounds are free can be used against groups and we can fool a single person with a visual object.

Nono ebbor, I mean actual fires. With our fire-sneeze.

High Profile

Your race and history makes you quite known in the upper magical circles. Dragons are also quite rare, so your sight is bound to be remembered even by common folk.

I do hope that you are prepared for pretty much all of the humanoid world to be on the lookout for us should we succeed, or wonder about our peciluar character, shall we fail.

On another note, because at some point the idea came up about flying from the acolyte tower towards the keep -if you look at the "arcane mindmap" you would see that it is quite the distance. Oh, right. Possible hint included in here somewhere.  :P

@ Bronimin and about magics. The first time an ability is introduced comes with a bit of fluff, in wich was explained that we somehow are able to draw mana from emotions, even more so when we are involved in creating them, with no drawbacks like lessening the emotion. It's demonic for a reason. ;3
Guess I'll take that as a hint to update the front-page with said stuff.

I think the idea was that we would use our fire-sneeze to set fire to a bunch of flammable shit we had piled up against the back wall of a pub or something. Or maybe a "fuse" of stuff leading to a grain store, dust explosions are damn fine distractions (though there might not be much of a town to look through afterwards).

-1 to setting fires, at least, not just yet.
I'd say we should practice more illusion, try to get more information and find a way to improve our strength.

How long do you think we have to dilly-dally? Sure it was all well and good so long as we (kinda) knew the sorceress had the amulet, and where the sorceress was. But if she hasn't pawned it, she might be seeking to do something with it- like drain it. It's been two days now, celebrations can only last so long, depending on the disposition of the partier.

So, time may be in short supply.

As for fires: we don't want to be caught, most likely outcomes here are death, vivisection, or a return to slavery. We're also a dragon: what are puny humans compared to us? Sure, at the moment we've not reached our potential, but we should have pride in our Draconian heritage.

So, given that we don't want to get caught, we don't care about human life, and time may be of the essence, what's a quick, sure-fire (pun) way create a massive distraction? Setting half the city ablaze. It also has the added benefits of A. Not consuming our mana & B. Turning the city into a giant mana font.

If we're as awesome as we should be, we'll pull it off like a boss. Even if we fail, even a full-grown dragon would respect the damage we caused & the independence we showed, (and they're the ones that matter, they're the ones that won't enslave, vivisect & kill us; unless we act like a despicable welpling at least..).

Purple prose aside, I think it's risky as hell, but that fortress looks rather impregnable & I'm inclined to take action rather than wait around. And I think it could work out rather epicly pretty well with some preparation.

A. Not consuming our mana & B. Turning the city into a giant mana font.
Sneeze of Flame - Draconic - 5 MP - Unskilled

You spew a little flame of Dragon-Fire, up to a few breaths away.

>5 MP
Also i have all kinds of doubt that it will set much on fire, especially since we are unskilled, maximum maybe we can get one house on fire and that's it. If anything we should practice our ability somewhere else first, maybe setting forest fire?

Hrm, thought it was an inherent ability- 'of magical origin but not magic'. Damn.
Figured we could make those piles of scrap in a few choice locations, against the sides of buildings, & sprint between them through the back alleys setting fire to each in turn.

Dunno about setting forest fires, that'll put everyone on edge, (in a general way).
If we don't want to do that, and we aren't strong enough to glide from the tower, only other thing that comes to mind is snooping around the outside wall of the fort for weakpoints, (doesn't have a moat of sludge). But that requires another full day, and involves traversing a city gate twice more.
Or the obvious & risky gambit of illusion-ing a noise and sprinting through to the keep that way.

Well, it might drain a bit of mana, but once the fires start there should be plenty more where that came from.
One problem though is the fort might go into lockdown...

No way in hell- there aren't enemies at the gates. Civs use soldiers as makeshift (and pretty damn reliable) aid workers when an emergency hits. They'd troop them out to start fire-fighting. Otherwise what would happen? instead of 1/10th of the city, 3/4s would burn, and the soldiers would just be watching from their barricades, safe behind their mote. The backlash would be unimaginable, both from without and within the ranks.

Then again, medieval cities are not known for their firesafety. Probably 90% of the city is going to burn whatever happens.

Maybe, or maybe that tower full of magic types is tasked to deal with it.

@ebbor
Fair enough, dunno their history. Also don't have info on density/building mats.

Jm:
Was kinda worried what to do should the sorceress come out, haven't thought about it yet. As for the apprentices, they don't have an emotion->mana converter, and if a noise or single-observer illusion costs (what, 4 mana?) imagine how much a water summoning/physical manipulation would cost. They only have ~30mp each as well. It'd take coordination/training to get them organized in time to make a difference.

Mana potion, mana crystal, mana store, ...

Alternatives exist.
