You only have to look at their past struggle (actually most of Latin America's struggle) with national security propagandists to figure out why they might find this troublesome.

Looks like those swiss bank accounts aren't so secret and secure after all.

I can't help but feel that, had someone been doing this to America (and lived to tell the tale), their government would be up in arms, demanding apologies and the like.

We wouldn't be demanding apologies, I think, so much as lobbing missiles.

Anyway, it appears that the UK was behind the Belgacom hack.

The NSA review panel promised by Obama... *drum roll* ... link

Perhaps their predictability makes up for their lack of transparency...

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

People say that Congress is now polarized and evenly sorted so that there is almost no ideological overlap...but I can name several Republicans whom I like much, much more than Feinstein.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Anyway, it appears that the UK was behind the Belgacom hack.
The Intelligence Services Act 1994 defines the role of MI6 as;
(b) to perform other tasks relating to the actions or intentions of such persons...[in relation to] the interests of national security, with particular reference to defence and foreign policies...the interests of the economic well-being of the UK...or in support of the prevention or detection of serious crime.
For a century old intelligence agency that only "existed" 20 years ago, it's adorably open about its goals. Spy on you, capital for me. Not particularly surprised really, which I suppose is sad in itself.

N.S.A. Gathers Data on Social Connections of U.S. Citizens

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/29/us/nsa-examines-social-networks-of-us-citizens.html?_r=0

EDIT:
After clicking on this:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/19/world/europe/germanys-effort-at-clean-energy-proves-complex.html?pagewanted=2&ref=europe and skimming, i suddenly have severe doubts in the usefulness of NYT as a source of information.

Actually, I don't know. That article is perfectly legitimate and factually correct, as far as I can see.

Germany's renewable first system does provide significant problems for cost, infrastructure, and Industry. Didn't knew they were that high, but they exist. Though apparently the nuclear closure has something to do with it.

Have an article for Der Spiegel, which is a reputable German Newspaper.

Ok, maybe i am wrong. It all sounded incredible and somewhat lobbiest to me.
It would be good to dive into a research of my own, but I am quite sure I won't have the time soon.

Let's forget the detour.

Ok, some more.

NSA attacks TOR
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/oct/04/nsa-gchq-attack-tor-network-encryption

To those who are the only ones being able to do something about it (the US population) it may be relevant that this is an attack which is indiscriminate against everyone, also US citizens.

Next we have some details on the death of encryption in the US by court rule:

Have an article for Der Spiegel, which is a reputable German Newspaper.
Its old editor once called it "the assault rifle of democracy" - it's one of the two or three newspapers a German liberal can read.
