Okay Since Realpolitik is slogging due to indecisiveness of the ruling Party i decided to make this here, something that doesn't require (too) much Maintenance.

It's 1914 and The First World War has just begun. And you belong to the First New Recruits fresh out of Training for the Kaiserreich of Germany.

Thankfully you have been allowed to decide where you want to start your Military Career.

Some Important Info:

This Game will be semi-historical and while you will fight in historical battles/campaigns at the beginning you may change the course of the War, if you survive (HAH!).

Don't get too attached to your characters i expect a extremely high mortality rate.

Not only the Allied forces are your enemies, Lack of Sleep, Malnutrition, Illness and the Mental Strain of Losing your Entire Company may put an end to your Career.

If you are wounded, you current character is temporarily out of the game until he has recovered, which may indeed take time. It is up to you whether you want to give up the Character completely or continue later on with him and meanwhile play a different Character.

Your actions will suceed or fail depending on a D10 Roll (1-Terrible Fail to 10-Unbelievable Sucess). Usually you give Orders on what to do during each turn (which lasts a Week) but battles will be fought in seperate Miniturns.

Name: Bastian Schreiber
Area of Germany you originate from: The Rheinland
Theater you wish to start in: Western Front
Backstory: Bastian Schreiber lived along the French-German border most of his life, raised in a middle class family who ran a tailoring shop. When he became an adult, he decided to study at the local university in an attempt to gain some kind of degree that would benefit him later in life. Ultimately deciding on studying to become a doctor, Bastian took part in the various student political circles at the time, and found himself to be a supporter of the left. Unfortunately, Bastian could only study for a year before the Weltkrieg started and found himself drafted into the army. Since he didn't have the liberty of declaring himself a conscientious objector, Bastian didn't want to risk illegally immigrating across the border into France as many young men did in the area, and found himself enlisted in the German Wehrmacht.

August 1914 Beginning: Gluttons, Bad Equipment and General lack of Healthcare

Eastern Front, somewhere around Stallupönen

You both have been assigned to the 1st Corps under General Hermann von Francois at the Area around Gumbinnen. More Specifically you have been assigned to the 1st East Prussian Grenadier Regiment "Crown Prince". Your Unit has been assigned to the small town of Stallupönen and hold the Area until Contact with Russian Main Army is established, then you are to retreat as the Eight Army cannot hold the Eastern Front alone against the 1st and 2nd Army of Russia.

Spoiler: Erik Schleicher (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Arik Bauer (click to show/hide)

Western Front, Siege of Liege

You are currently on the March to Liegé the First Belgian Fortress you are going to conquer on your way to fulfill the Schlieffen Plan. You both have been assigned to the 2nd Army, XI.Corps, 22nd Division. More specifically you belong to the 1st Ober-Elsässische Infantry Regiment.

Spoiler:  22nd Division (click to show/hide)

Spoiler:  Wilhelm Greim (click to show/hide)

Spoiler:  Bastian Schreiber (click to show/hide)

African Front, Togo

Spoiler:  Map of Togoland (click to show/hide)

Yesterday an Emmisary arrived from the Gold Coast demanding our Surrender of course Major von Döring refused. You along with 68 other Europeans and 400 Askaris form currently the only defense forces against the roughly One Thousand One Hundred British and French Soldiers Invading Togoland. The Quality of your Gear is (as is to be expected of Colonial Reservists and Police Forces) bad (-1 on your Equipment Quality Rolls).

[10] The two of you are with Major von Döring who is currently moving north to reinforce his troops with Natives and Reservists.

Okay Thats to that. Give me your orders for the Week (aka what you do when you are not patrolling, like foraging for Supplies, Trading in Supplies you don't need, Hunting down Vermin, Play Cards, etc.)

@griffinpup yep write up your character so that stuff goes faster when you guys roll in.

@ mastahcheese and Cheesecake, both Waitlisted. Also in the Pacific Theater was just one Battle, the other German Colonies where invaded without violence. And in that Single Siege THree THousand Germans faced some fifty thousand Japense plus i dont know how many British and French Allies...so we can savely consider THAT THeater lost.

Concerning Withdrawal, Needs and Quality

For your equipment and your Rations i have rolled a d10, which gave you Equipment from Horrible to Perfect Quality. I also determined your needs via that Rolls, some of you need to eat more other dont need to eat as much to stave of Malnutrition. With the Surplus Supplies you can trade for things you need, especially Tobacco and Alcohol are better than any currency.

Of course you can keep any surplus Coffee and Tobacco and Alcohol Supplies and use them when you need them. If you for example dont smoke at all you get a Morale Bonus and you can Migitate Lack of Sleep Malus by using up Tobacco Supplies (however there is a chance that you become addicted and need to consume a Weekly Ration to stave of Withdrawal-Effects). If you are already a Smoker(aka you started with needing a Half Ration,Ration or even A Double Ration) you only get bonuses when you consume Tobaccoadditional to the Ration you need Anyway.
In other Words Non-Smokers who smoke a Half ration get a bonus while Smokers only get a Bonus at Full Rations/Double Rations/Triple Rations.

as you have seen there is also a Division Tab with rates of Supplies and Ammunition. As the War drags on Supply Lines may be severed and then the Stocks of the Company will slowly dwindle. If Germany is losing (aka if you lose many Characters) Supplies will be reduced by the Home Country. Up until you only get a Half ration of Food and a Half Ration of Water.

During and after a Battle it is possible to Scavenge Corpses, also If a fellow player on your front gets killed you can divvy up his Gear.

You will notice that all of your Gear has the Tag (New). Every Month a Roll for Equipment Degradation will be done, which will reduce the Quality of your Equipment. So while you may start with a Good Fitting Pair of Boots time, wear and lack of care will make them unusable until you have to requisition a fresh pair...or steal some.

Okay i think i covered most of the Stuff...Good luck- you'll need it.

Begin cutting down on my smoking until I can quit entirely, trade my alcohol ration and my Mauser G98 Rifle  for a different Mauser G98 Rifle of average quality or higher from the quarter master or another soldier. ( Higher being better. )

Stock up on extra water and use spare time to gather food either from foraging or hunting. As much of both as possible.

Join a card game and bet my half coffee ration, then pray that I win.

Speak with other soldiers and officers and see if they are interested in trading for my tent, I'll accept alcohol, coffee and smokes for it, I will also require the person taking it's tent in exchange.

Try to trade my Alcohol Ration for a helmet that will actually prevent me from getting domed.

Start cutting down on Tobacco as much as possible without suffering absolutely horrible withdrawal.

Use a single magazine for target practice to try and improve my accuracy.
