Well, some of your powers probably consume souls, of course, being souls, it is difficult to notice these things, so everyone you ever loved became completely incapable of emotion and kept functioning mostly on momentum by the time you realised, which was long after anything could be done to save them. Add to this that your normal body is dying, but using magic reverses the effects of that... And then combine all of that with having magic that only buffs, so you can only help people, but doing so risks harming them. Then probably make yourself very gullible...
