No, not the old free version, the fancy XBLA one! I'd just revive the old Spelunky thread, but I can't seem to find it.

Hi-def graphics, new secret levels, new enemies, new bosses, up to four player co-op, more in-depth stat tracking, player versus player arena modes, and maybe some other things I don't know I haven't played it.

That's like asking what the point of buying Kerbal Space Program is when you can play an archaic alpha version of it for free. Everything is better, or so it seems.

...Not really, the free version is the demo, and was always intended as a demo, as KSP was always intended as a commercial game.

But buying a PC port of a console remake of a freeware game? That one hurts trying to say in my head. Maybe making out with Damsel will fix... oh wait, I sacrificed her to Kali :-[.

Spelunky is all about the modding. The mods for the freeware PC version are much more fun than the XBLA version. Even with co-op, it will be a tough sell unless it's heavily moddable.
