I'm interested, but I've never played D&D before in my life - I don't really know how this stuff works. So if you're willing to school me in my ignorance, I'm happy to have a go. If you'd prefer somewone with more experience, just say and I won't be offended.

If you do want me to play for some reason, do you have any advice? I know basically what classes do (warriors hit things, wizards fry things) but not certain what would be an effective character.

@Gilgamesh: http://www.d20srd.org/index.htm <--- is all the info you need to get started on making a char.

But since this game won't be heavy on mechanics-how about you submit your character in pure RP form-motivations, bio, appearance etc-and I hammer out a char for you? That way you could play quickly without holding up the game. It'll be a sample, more or less, for me to explain anything you don't understand. You can then use it, scrap it, or change it whatever.

You just have to give me a choice of race http://www.d20srd.org/srd/races.htm

and Class http://www.d20srd.org/indexes/classes.htm

Along with your char info, and I'll help you out.

As for tips, our current team is one ranged/one melee. So anything could be effective. Let me see your choices and we'll get your char settled.

Name: Konicek Gig, Warrior of the Sacred Glaive
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Class: Fighter (may as well start simply)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Date of birth: 13.7.128
Age: 25

Character sheet: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=587011

An Appear.

History: Konicek was a Warrior of the Sacred Glaive, a sect that quested to find the weapon of the Last God when it banished the Malignancy behind the Dreaming Wall. Given to the Chapter of the Sacred Glaive, one of the many Chapters of the Last God, when he was a small child, he was taught the skills of combat. he embarked on his 16th year on his quest. He never found the Glaive, but he encountered the forces of the Malignancy - The Red Heretics, who fought many battles against the Chapters of the Last God.

He searched across the land, exploring ancient tombs and overgrown ruins, where time-worn relics and time-forgotten monsters lurking. he saw the awesome sight of the Dreaming Wall: Impossible, brooding architecture, born of stone and the bones of gods. The Wall loomed into the sky, the backbone of a rock titan. Hideous Gargoyles seemed to shift when No other sight left him in such awe.

Finally, he was ambushed by the Red Heretics: his greatest foe, Gali of the Crimson, caught him without his armour or weapons. Having just time to seize his pack, he dodged her lunge... and they fell. Where they fell, he could not say, but when he faded out from the black, he lay alone next to a battlefield, still gripping his pack. The battlefield has been scavenged already, but he managed to find a halberd clutched in a necrotic hand. Only when he looked up did he see the bizarre world he had landed in, with nothing but echoes in place of memories. he remember's little but that he is a Warrior of the Sacred Glaive, and it is his quest to find it. where better to look for a relic of a god than in a realm so obviously the work of the unnatural?

Appearance: Balding far before his time, with a short, almost scraggly goatee. His nose has a horizontal scar when a old foe, Gali of the Crimson, split it open in her attempt to kill him. His body is broad and muscualr, covered with faint scars from old matches. His clothes are the deep blue tabard of his order, though as you go it it hasfaded with rain into a lighter blue. His hood is drawn over his head, tight around his skull so as not to restrict vision. His grey eyes are shadowed and set deeply into his skull. His arms are tanned from long days in the sun.

(Well, I provided an enemy as well, though Konicek is an appear. She might have appeared or not, depending on what you decide. Gali of the Crimson is a highly manipulative assassin type, trying to spread the cult of the Red Heresy - that the malignancy is just a god trying to free humanity from the chains of the other gods.)

Gali of the Crimson: A half-elf, she clashed many times with Konicek in his search for the Sacred Glaive. She is manipulative, cunning, and utterly committed to the Red Heresy.

Also dwarm: if you ever want me to teach you how to make some simple maps, I've got a really easy/good workflow for gridded black and white ones. I could type up a tutorial if need be.

Thanks. I enjoy writing and have wanted to try stuff like this, but don't know anyone who does it in my area. Finally decided to try it out, so hopefully I won't get mullered too hard :L

Is there space for one more?

If yes, I'm thinking a elan stp erudite. Would that be acceptable? If not I'd be willing to go psion.

Also, how does the planar cosmology work? For example, if we get high enough level, could we simply plane shift out?

Yes. still working on Gilgameshes sheet with him, but there is one more spot open at this point.

Also, part of the game is finding exactly that out Demon Spoon :P

And note, I know nothing about Psionics, lol. You'll have to help me with that a bit.

Two questions which will determine what I make.

1. What non-Core sources are allowed?
2. What roles have been taken already?

Ah. In that case I should inform you that Elans are immortal and I was planning to start at venerable age minimum, if that would influence your approval of the race. Psions are considered more balanced than other full casters, while stp erudites are considered more broken than other full casters.

Perhaps I should play a warlock or a wu jen?

EDIT: A xenotheurgist might also be nice if approved

2. What roles have been taken already?

1. Anything that's not broken on purpose and that I can actually see. No 'homebrew' stuff, unless you're set on it.
2. We've got two melee fighters-one polearm wielder, one longsword-and a Dragonfire Adept (ranged).

@Demo spoon: Our Dragonfire Adept is pretty much like a Warlock already...
Also, oh lord that class looks complicated...my brain...

...

@Demo/GwG: I should say there's only spot left. You'd better settle on something, guys :P

A erudite would be acceptable? If so I'll settle for that.

...well, if you're going to, I hope you're good with RP at least.

I won't go out of my way to smash the campaign into little pieces no. I've just felt in the mood for a erudite lately. Keeping in mind that we start level 1 so he's nice and squishy atm.
