Attack the Red-purple shade!
absolutely not. look at the three shades more closely. the yellow one is different from the other two. the other two are floating, the yellow one is standing.
That doesn't explain anything unless she can't actually fly. Otherwise, of course two were floating and one was standing, the standing one was on the ground and the other two weren't.
Well, it's kinda foolish to assume she could.

Yeah, LostMagic, that was it. Good to know there were others who've played it. I wonder, however, if you ever made it to the end, FFS? And which end you got? (I got the evil/good end and also got halfway to the good/good end from the midway split - as far as I can recall).

I see her hands change position depending on the spell (a tell!). For fire, she had her left hand (our right) out. For shadow, she had both out. And for this one, both are behind her.
Secondly, of the five symbols in her circle, and the six around the throne, there are two that match. Fire and Water. Every time her circle shows up, it's the same, so the elements on the circle are NOT a tell. In total, there are nine different symbols. Going clockwise from WATER, on the circle they appear to be Water, Shadow, Wind, Life(plant?), and fire. On the throne they are water, fire, earth or mana, ice, void or earth, and light (that would be us). I do not know this for sure, but that's what they appear to be.
I cannot see a connection between the poses and the positions of the elements. I would like to, but I don't. But if I had to guess, she's going to try and crush us this time.

Well, it's kinda foolish to assume she could.
Flying would probably be by far the most mundane thing she's done so far, especially with an ability that would work so differently if the illusions couldn't all be within reach at the same time.

use magically strengthened uppurcut to deal damage to witch and sever necklace thus interrupting spellcast.
Blind halfassed blitzkriegs didn't work at first, they're not gonna work now. We need to do something defensive to weather the storm, not try to abuse mechanics that don't exist to cancel it before it happens.

Unless of course she's not using an offensive ability, in which case we're still not going to one-shot cancel her.

Potion or guard.

GET OUT OF THE WAY!
Too slow and probably not a dodgeable spell in the first place. For this to work, she'd need to be using an ability that targets the ground, not a person, it'd need to be a small enough area of effect for us to escape in one move (which doesn't look like it was the case last time), and she'd need to have been forced to select the target on her first cast action and henceforth had no control over it.

...or I guess it could be a touch range spell, which might explain her moving towards us in the first place.

Quaff potion! That way she can't loot it off our corpse!

Unfortunately, it looks like she's faster than us. I assume so, from her getting the occasional double move and us getting no such thing. Not sure what to make of her comment, either. I guess she can't fly?

So...people who can turn invisible can float?

Or it could be a range of some kind.

Potion or guard.
use magically strengthened uppurcut to deal damage to witch and sever necklace thus interrupting spellcast.
Steal Necklace, interupting her spell! Then drink red poison!
Can we slice the necklace now?

You strike the witch, but she barely even flinches. The power of fallen Heroes must be strengthening her.

A stream of water erupts from the witch's hand and floods you with overwhelming force. You are knocked into the air.

: "Seasalt Slapfight. What a name! Coined by your youngest cousin, Elrond, the last Hero of Water. His vast array of movement spells kept me on my toes for the whole fight, but I overpowered him in the end."

Luckily, your OBVIOUS HEROISM protects you from falling damage. You land feet-first and quaff the red potion. It empties out, restoring five points of health.

The witch floats over and begins casting another spell.

: "So tell me, Hero of Light. Where's your heroic spells? Your ultimate, flashy finishing moves? Or are you just going to keep whittling away with that broken blade?"

: "This blade was given to my by my father, and I trust in it more than any magic tricks. My power as the Hero of Light is focused through it, making me one of the most powerful swordsmen in the world. You more than anyone else should know this!"

((I screwed up the graph on the second image, just assume it's moved a little over to the left.))

Slice your sword so fast that you break reality and attack from three different angles at once?

I don't think we've unlocked our Limit Break yet.

I've got the bad feeling she's going to go all Necromancy on our daughter's corpse. Not sure what we should do about it, given the witch's dominance of the range control game.

I suggest that we fall back another screen. Hang out near the right edge of that screen, if she wants to chase us force her to enter melee. Maybe the steps/candelabras will give us some tactical options, as well.

+1 So she'll be forced to waste a turn approaching us, right? We should block while we wait.

You head to the earlier area. The witch follows.

: "Mmm. Playing for time, are you? Stall all you want. In the end, you're mine. Hehehe!"

You guard against any oncoming damage. You're not sure this will protect you from her spells, but this is all you've got.

: "Nalia was smarter than you thought. If she had told you the truth, you wouldn't be here now!"

: "What are you talking about?"

A spectacular burst of earth shoots forth from the ground, piercing you where the sun don't shine. The shield was useless from that angle! Three HP, all out of potion... this isn't looking good.

: "Ah! And now your sister, Elle. My very first victim. You wondered for years where the last Hero of Earth, your closest kin, had run off to. Little did you know that, even as we smiled from across the dinner table, she was decomposing in an old castle on the hill."

: "Ghh... why? Why would you do this!?"

: "Our marriage was the best thing that could have happened to me, Alistair. I gained more insight into the Heroes than the Heroes had themselves. Even as we shared our first kiss, my plan was slowly coming together."

Hey, she's turning green, and thats the only one she hasn't used yet. A vine snare perhaps? Dunno if we should toss the candlestick at her or just hang onto it in case we can set something on fire.
