In my ( yet unfinished )career as an engineering student, I came up with a question:  In which ways does microgravity change the behavior of metals?
Of course, I was not the only one to ask this question. A relatively large body of research already exists on the topic and, as I discovered, helped understand and improve several earth based processes.
I then began a quest to look for more information, as I find this an interesting subject. And one which may in the not so far future( decades) find less traditional uses, if enteprises such as Planetary resources meet a decent quantity of succees.( by the way. they seem to have started a kickstarter)
But my googling abilities are quite low and so I thought, why not share this interest with the Bay of 12, in the hope of finding people who are educated on the subject?

I'll of course be the first to share some of the links I found. (I found them among google results, so I have to guess they are public)

This first one describes solidification progress in a weld in microgravity conditions, obtained through a drop shaft.

This second link instead describes a wider range of peculiar events.

so... uh... got anything interesting?

Oh! Oh! I know a type of metal that can only be made in space!

Gundanium!

You should pursue this stuff, and create Gundams!

(I'm sorry, I had to.)

Anyway, that looks pretty cool, I'll see if I can't help you look up that stuff.
