If you've heard of Shamus Young of Twenty Sided fame, he's recently opened up a forum. There's no political or religious discussion allowed whatsoever, but it's a good forum for discussing games and movies and stuff. It's still relatively new, but if the comments on his blog are any indication, the forums are going to be pretty awesome.

So I've tried to think of a reply to this several times - and I have some good ideas - but I'm still not QUITE sure what you're looking for that we don't have here. More specifically, I would like some detail on this sentence as it seems to be the part I don't understand:

I'm aware of the strained finances and long hours common here, but it doesn't speak for everyone, and it's something i put up with, not dismiss.

What does that mean? Do you think some people on the forum who aren't activists of the level you desire because of strained finances and long hours are... lying about those strained finances and long hours? I really don't understand what the issue here is, despite multiple attempts at understanding.

I'm saying that being a games forum, the board is too relaxed for my taste. It's also one of the reasons why the board maintains a high standard of conversation, as people aren't too emotionally invested, and the game itself draws people who are prepared to put a little time and thought into their responses. Nevertheless, it's a games forum. The "strained finances and long hours" is speaking about those with no such reasons for either their commitment to the values they espouse or the reason they use this site in the first place. There are good reasons to play games, this is one of the better ones, and becoming a grimdark or grinch expy is not going to do your mental health or your cause any favors, but it's not enough for me. That's why I'm asking. The OP wasn't particularly calm or clear, and i apologize for that.
