Daethwin steps into the room, eyes flickering about, watching Blue for any telltale glance he might make, or even the fragment of one hastily suppressed. He didn't expect to see much, though; the elder was old enough to have experience with controlling every facet of his expression. What intrigued him, though, were the torches, and the images made by the patterns on the wall. He began to inspect them, singing softly to himself to help concentrate. The tune, however, became more elaborate as he continued to stroll along the room, picking up strange melodies and harmonies that seemed to appear from nowhere. The rhythms, however quiet, reverberated around the room, harmonizing with the mirrors and building upon themselves in the subtle magic that all music has. Daethwin could try to find the strange parts of the room by the way it echoed his song, but he had also begun weaving spells into it; not necessarily on purpose. It was simply that any music a bard makes is magic as well. The spells were, of course, finding spells, revealing spells, coaxing the hidden items in the room to come out, convincing their protections that it was better to show themselves off, not stay hidden in a place like this. The manner in which the results might manifest would be equally subtle, of course: a flickering of the torches to reveal a different set of images; a glimpse of the real, caught in the flash of a mirror's reflection; or perhaps a simple shift in the atmosphere, a wind that seemed to have no source, or a precariously balanced object that fell suddenly, as if in response to the vibrations from the sound...

In his typically rash way, Thales would grow tired of these games. Striding purposely up to the red side of the room, he would attempt to smash the mirror with sword and boot. Puzzles are for the weak heathen!

Naturally, the doormirror would reply to force with equal and opposite force.

BAM!

The armor would stop most of the retaliation, but it would certainly feel like a hard punch to the guts (3HP).

"Warned you."

In the meantime, Daethwin's investigation of the shadows would lead him to seeing a pattern of spells for opening and closing, depending on the light. It was, of course, an obvious leap to seeing if the lights would move on their brackets. Operated individually, they would almost; if he were to rustle up help to move the others, they would indeed rotate.

Jewel followed the others and the elder down below, happy that while things may not of gone as well as he might of hoped, they didn't seem to be terrible. Sort of. Such thoughts and worries left his mind once the elemental saw the underground chamber, but what held his eye wasn't the items within but rather the architecture.

A perfect pentagonal room, the edges clearly cut and the white walls softly smoothed to where Jewel hesitated for a second before placing hastily removing a gauntlet and placing a hand on one of the walls, feeling its contours and texture. If this was crafted by elves, and indeed stone as he is guessing, perhaps he has those pointy eared fleshlings pegged wrong. A bit on the simple side as shapes are involved though, and little compared to the greater stoneworks he's seen and heard of, but such did little to averse his growing respect.

"Who build room? You-Clan?" The elemental asked as he moved towards the manhole and fountain, investigating and guessing how much the manhole might weigh and how flush it was to its surroundings as well as give the fountain a curious look over.

Daethwin smiled. The elves were artists, and no artist could resist showing off. Thus, the torches. "Could someone give me a hand with these, please? I think the torches move, but I can't do it on my own."

Thales strides up to the nearest torch, leans his sword against the wall, and heaves at the light. If you're listening carefully, you can hear something about weakling heretical scum.

"Elf clans." Blue agreed laconically in Tradespeak,  twirling a hand to indicated that he meant all clans. "Honor build, many time."

His version of "time" was more Dremoran, and he used a glowing hand to simulate the sun rising and falling.

In response to both twisting, the shadows warped twice, then became set in a pattern that had little to do with the angle of light. Jewel would sense something heavy grinding underfoot, towards the Red Mirror. Should Daeth and Thales continue to twist all the torches,  a chamber near the top of the fountain would open; if not, Jewel's inspection would show to the elemental that there was a smell inset in the fountain and that some of that grinding was carrying through the space in the top.

Soon enough,  the party members would realize that something had to go there before the de-trapped doors would unlock.

Rurail is being quiet, but gets up from inspecting the shrines to help with the torches.
As he does this, he pointedly asks Daethwin & Jewel,
"See anything in shadows?"

Daethwin inspects the shrines, though he pays attention to the shadows around too. And to their minder, watching the lot of them. Once he's finished his inspection, such as it is, he walks back towards the scale, to look at the beads.

"May I ask how the scale works, at least? I can only assume that if someone tries to take more than the beads allow, it murders them in some spectacular fashion should they not return the correct amount of wealth to your vault?"

[# == Dwarven, [stuff] == Lingual Word Variant]

Jewel was on his knees with a soft clank, feeling around on the floor with a bared hand, trying to get a better feel for the earth and vibrations. "#Machinery[Unknown] underground[Rough Distance], I think... Whenever you two moved those torches, there were vibrations[Heavy]. The tremor moved to the... Red mirror, but a smaller one went to the fountain[Not Stone]." The elemental was quieted for a while as he noticed the inset, tapping at it with his gauntlet clad hand, then his bare hand, then scratching at it faintly, listening all the while. "#There's an alcove[Small] in the fountain[Not Stone], the tremor stopped there.#"

The elemental looked to his friend Rurail and shook his head at his question. "No see, yes hear. Mecha..." He paused trying to think of the word for a moment as it eluded him, before going for a tried and true combo word. "Machine-use-move." Jewel indicated at the floor, then slightly shook his hand to try and indicate tremors. "Fountain. Mirror." The earthen man pointed at both the fountain and the red mirror respectively, then back at the ground. "Machine-use-move connect whole." At that remark, he made an encircling motion that looked sort of like he was hugging the air and drawing it close, to attempt to indicate that they're connected or closely related.

He hoped it went through to his friend, but he figured it may be best to just show him, as he made a gesture for Rurail to draw near him.

"Yeah I feel."
Rurail was talking while he moved to the next torch, glancing at Jewel as he spoke.
Another twist (4/5 torches by now), and he took a second to look at the shadows & the mirrors before he spun around to face jewel fully.
Was there anything strange in the reflections?
Were there shapes or patterns to the shadows?
What color torches had been twisted?

"Fountain?"
He started moving towards jewel about the same moment the golem bade him come nearer.

Jewel nodded and pointed at the inset, holding his bare hand a safe distance below it (it could be a rather nasty red herring after all) where he knew the tremor moved through, and then motioning for his friend to do the same. "Feel. Machine-use-move connect here." The earthen man waited for him to do so, and watched to see if he could feel it. The elemental knows that not all are as attuned to the underground and the earth as he is, but he knows his friend tends to be particularly perceptive in such locales.

"Interest. Machine-activate? Machine-harm? Stick have?" The elemental asked, the question directed at those around him, then repeated himself in dwarven. "#Anyone have a rod[Unknown Material]? Something expendable?#"

Now this was of particular interest to Rurail, who would study the inset before searching the fountain and the shrines for a properly-shaped widget.
To jewel,
"Red mirror only?"

Daethwin speaks up. "#Oh, yes, wait a moment, I've got one somewhere around here...#"

The bard drops his pack to the ground, and digs in it for a short time. After a second or two, he comes out with what appears to be an elaborately decorated crowbar.

"#Will this do, then?#"
