Tarana avoided most of the fight, but she never planned to avoid the looting, her choice of loot was a dead leader because she was the one who killed him even if most work was done by the some unknown archer

" Guys, I suggest to not kill them. I am sure that some bounty for them is very well possible. And our reputation here may get a nice boost if we'll do what laws suggest and transfer bastards into the hands of justice " Tarana preferred to respect laws and opportunity for profit was a nice and welcome bonus, but, mostly she hoped that justice system will be more merciful toward bandits than her companions

Tut tut, Morgred. If you need souls to devour or what have you, you'll just have to share with the rest of us.
Don't worry, we don't eat souls,
he assures the terrified bandits.
Point being , we need to interrogate at least one of them.
He looks at the bandits.
Speak up, you folk. Which one of you was the second in command? Lieutenant? Whatever it is.
I was going to use them as raw materials for some better armour... you sure you don't want any?

Well, why don't we take the most terrified one to law enforcement as a captive?

Morgred! That's just inefficient; I'm ashamed. If you're going to do that, at least interrogate them or such first!

The swordsmen nodded. In all honesty, their willingness to obey Morgred was based entirely on the fact that they were at his mercy. Not that they'd let the undead know that, of course.

The mage woman who had been smart enough to try to get out of her robes to escape made noises through her gag. Had she not been tied up very securely, and not had some of her fingers pre-emptively broken to prevent her from casting, she would have raised her hand; as it was, she couldn't.

"Mmph mmh mmh!"

It was unclear whether or not she meant "I'm in charge now" or "For the love of the gods, don't turn us into armor!"; likely, it was both.

(Before you ask, yes, breaking fingers is the most merciful way to prevent them from casting with the materials the party has on-hand. It may seem harsh, but I assumed that the group was smart enough to not leave hostile mages with the ability to cast.)

Myrln sighed and removed the woman's gag.
So you're the second in command?

((Do I need mana to bind their souls to me, or can I just do that with a few symbols and a prayer to Mingan?))

Morgred grinned broadly.
Excellent. Now, you have a couple of choices as to serving me. Do you wish to serve me as living beings or as undead? Also, soulbinding so you cannot disobey, or a kill-switch embedded into your spirit that will annihilate you if you disobey... What is your decision?

Normally, the woman would have glared and given him lip; in her current state of shock and pain, the most she could do was to stare through him instead of at him.

"I am. Kill me if it pleases you, but let them go."

She slightly tilted her head in the direction of her fellow prisoners, sounding resigned.

"It's not as though they had a choice in the matter."

"If it's all the same to you, free or dead," the first rasped.

"I'd rather live on my knees than die on my feet..." replied the other.

(You'll have to wait a while to either regain mana, or take your chances with a controlled Soulburn. As it stands right now, you still have a while to go before the risk of Bad Things(tm) gets serious.)

Myrln makes a show of considering the matter.
Now see, I could agree with the more bloodthirsty of my companions and kill you brutally, but to be honest you're worth more alive, or at least with recognizable corpses. So we'll be taking you to some authorities for money, if that's all the same to you. I don't really care about your opinion, so that's what we're doing.

Alright, just understand that dead means I will be taking your soul, which will never reach the afterlife...

"You go right ahead and do that, then."

She tried to shrug, but couldn't. The woman had already figured she was dead; a few days for them to do what they thought was the better option wouldn't change it.

The only response from the swordsman was to spit at the necropriest.

"Go fuck yourself."

He'd glare at the undead, defiant to the end.

Myrln glanced over to Morgred.
Say, if Mr Defiant there isn't cooperating, could I have him? We'd earn more money that way.
He turns back to the 2nd.
So what's your story? How'd you become a bandit that was very short sighted?

Sure. But I'll be skinning him first...

Skin him with the sacrificial knife. But keep him alive while doing so.

Can't you just scalp him or something, then? It'll be much harder to collect out bounty if we violate some nation's code of ethics. At least with scalping we can pass it off as some obscure tradition.

Myrln points a warning finger at him.
No. Cut off his hair and be content with that.
