burial markings

i want the coffin or memorial to have a message that says how they died. that is all.

Yup!  OP, if you haven't seen this already, all you need to do is target an engraved memorial slab with [t] [enter] [v].

yup already in there. what determines if the details are given is the skill level of your engraver.
