Watching to read chatlogs. I'm already in a couple games, and there's no way I'd be able to play any IRC games with my schedule.

There seem to be lots of BSFs so far. That makes my job easier.

I'm not sure what I'll be yet, but I'm usually some kind of decker/rigger. I might try going out of my comfort zone.

I also wouldn't be available every week, so I've already got some stories in mind for why I would only be an infrequent participant.

Rats. If we're using Runner's Companion I'll need that too.  :-\

Could I do without it, do you think?

It's nothing special - some new metahumans, qualities, lifestyles, and contacts, as well as some general tips and different character creation methods. Nothing strictly vital. If you're using Chummer, it's probably already got all that in it anyway.

If you've got the cash, it is very worth it to support Catalyst by buying at least the core book. They're one of the few companies (along with SJG and whoever makes Eclipse Phase) that put basically their entire catalog online in PDF format.

Chummer doesn't have any explanation for any of it though.

Wait, are we doing IRC? I was assuming it would be voice.
fake edit: which is wrong of me, since Scelly9 said upfront it was most likely going to be over IRC.

Hrm... so say, hypothetically, that I wanted my critter to have a pet monkey with, y'know, maybe the ability to do the whole rigger thing on it and perhaps a couple of built in cybernetic surprises. Is, uh. Can that be a thing? How would you go about sticking it on a character sheet whatsit?

Alright. Denver background.

Denver has been split up into four different sectors, the PCC, Sioux, CAS, and UCAS. Border crossings are frequent, but many Coyotes exist to help runners across.

Sioux notes:
-All guns heavier than a Light Pistol are required to be licensed. Only Light Pistols are allowed to be carried in public.
-All ground vehicles are legal, but mounted weaponry is only legal for security forces.
-Drugs, both physical and digital, and very illegal, and the government at least tries to keep a tight reign on them.
-Civilians can not possess armor heavier than armored clothing.
-Class A cyberware is uncontrolled. Class B and C must be licensed.

PCC (The Pueblo Corporate Council) notes:
-All guns must be licensed. Only weaponry up to light pistols can be carried. Automatics are strictly illegal, and other long weaponry is severely restricted. Single shot rifles and shotguns are legal, but require several licenses.
-Vehicles with armor are illegal.
-Drugs are easy to obtain, and the law is fairly lenient.
-Light body armor is legal, anything heavier is completely restricted.
-Class A and B cyberware must be licensed. Class C is illegal.

CAS (The Confederated American States) notes:
-All guns must be licensed, but everything up to a belt-fed machine gun can be carried in public. Importation is exceedingly tough though.
-All vehicles are legal, as long as they do not have illegal weaponry mounted.
-Drugs are strictly controlled, and trafficking laws are also strict.
-Light body armor and lighter is legal, higher only requires a license.
-Class A and B cyberware must be licensed. Class C cyberware is illegal.

UCAS (The United Canadian And American States) notes:
-All weaponry, including knives, must be licensed. Nothing heavier than a light pistol can be carried.
-Normal vehicles are legal, armored vehicles are illegal.
-Drug laws are lenient, and easy to get.
-Only armored clothing is legal, all other armor is illegal.
-Class A and B cyberware must be licensed, class C is illegal.

Organized Crime:
Chavez Mafia - Old blood. They defend their turf, and keep to themselves mostly. Not going for large powergrabs, just content to keep their land.
Casquilho Mafia - Another old mafia family, they are slightly more aggressive than the Chavez family
Yakuza - A large mob, the Yakuza runs many things in Denver.
Triad - Mostly running the Englewood neighborhood in the CAS sector, they are on a lower level than the Yakuza or Mafia but they are slowly gaining power.
Koshari - They mostly haunt the Pueblo, they have a huge amount of power, but lack the organization of the Mafia. They specialize in Vice.
Kirillov Vory - Newcomers in town, these Russian mobsters are attempting to take down the bigger organizations and grab as much land as possible.
Fomin Vory - Another family of Russian mobsters, they are also fighting for power.
Godz - A small street mob, the Godz are slowly gaining notoriety as a pretty powerful gang.
Frontz - Another street gang, the Frontz are constantly at war with basically everyone else.

Any laws on cyberware? And can I get a 'time until session from now' so I can make sure I've got the right time?

I think bioware is usually just bundled in to cyberware as far as the law is concerned.

Camouflage suits are legal in all areas, but may cause suspicion. Chameleon suits on the other hand, are illegal in Sioux, UCAS, and licensed in the other two sectors.

Bioware is a case-by-case basis. What where you thinking of, specifically?

A note to everyone: Since you may be crossing borders a lot, weapons that you can conceal may be a good idea.
