I would be up for this. Know the system practically inside out, so I can also teach new people how it works and such. Just send me a message if there's a slot free for me.

anyone interested?

You'll probably have no difficulty getting players, but from previous experience:

1) A lot of threads that start out the way you started this one don't go anywhere. You haven't really given us enough information to convince us that you have a clue what you're doing. If you're going to run a game, there's a certain amount of time and effort required from you, and "hey who wants to play" isn't really enough. Please lay some basic groundwork so we know we're not wasting our time. I've lost track of how many times I've spent several hours locating and downloading rulebooks, reading through them and making a character for a game that never ends up happening because the GM didn't realize how much effort it would take to organize everything and actually run a game.

2) A lot of people who express interest in threads like these post once that they're all excited to play, and then immediately disappear and never post again. Or are willing to follow up...but can't play because 3-4 pages into the thread it finally occurs to people that there needs to be a scheduled play time, and half the people who said they weren't interested aren't available at that time on that day. If you want this to happen, I suggest you, again, lay some groundwork, tell us when and how play sessions will happen, give rules for character creation and tell people precisely what they need to do to apply. For example, post something like this:

-- "Game will be X, we'll be playing Nth edition. I have a campaign premise in mind, and the party will need at least one (insert archetype here) for it to work, maybe two. I want at least X and no more than Y total players, and I'll be ("accepting on a first come first serve basis" or "choosing among character submissions based on which I feel are most suiatble for my campaign.) Game will be (insert general description of type of gameplay, for example: "mostly combat, so don't worry about diplomacy stuff" or "mostly infiltration, politics and intrigue, so don't worry too much about combat skills" or "very mixed, so we'll need a variety of archetypes" or "relaxed, so make a character you like, don't worry about min/maxing" "heavy roelplay, so I absolutely need players to have written backgrounds, not just stats and gear" etc.) Also, no full-on dedicated deckers because matrix runs slow down the game too much for everyone else. If you want to play, make a character with the following (insert house rules here), and (choose one: "submit your character in this thread" or "post a link to your character on mythweavers." Gameplay will be X nights, from x:xx to x:xx. You'll need to download a certain software to play, here's the link.)

Good idea.

Playing 4th edition, probably going to be running a 50-50 combat to diplomacy/other cleverness game. Try and have at least a rudimentary backstory, I like having things to torture you with. I want at least 4 people in each session, probably up to 7, but more characters can be submitted and accepted since there's a good chance people won't always show up. The first couple of adventures will likely be premade, so everyone can get comfortable with the system, and after that we may get into the heavy storyline stuff. Make a character using ChummerGen and upload it to something (Dropbox, Megaupload, ect.). Hacking will be simplified so it doesn't slow down the game. Use 350 BP for your character. Post the link in the thread once you're done. Games will be Saturday, at 18:00 GMT. Liable to change if nobody can show up.

Hmm. I wasn't originally going to put up a character... hey scell, how do you feel about players who only play once every while or put in a character and don't play until other games they're playing end?

Cool, cool. I'll put up a sheet later, I'll try and make it support-oriented so that people don't get screwed over when I can't play.

cool, my finals end this week i may be able to join depending on what time we expect to end sessions :)

i may not have a character ready till Friday though

For a character i will likely make a hermetic mage (spells and specialtys will depend on party makeup)

Hm. Making this character with the chummer thingy, but I need to know a couple of things; one, where is this going to be set and two, how much cash do we get at start?

Also, what other sourcebooks are being used?

Denver. We can use Arsenal, Augmentation, and others if you guys want.

Your starting money is determined by your lifestyle and if you had any money left over from the resources stage of character creation. If you did, you can add +1 for each 100¥ you had left to the dice roll up 3 times the number of dice rolled.

Oh, in character creation, you can spend BP for money. You can spend as much as you want, as long as you have the BP for it. PM'd you some links.

If you are going to do that, my i suggest you try that build as an adept (Magic kung-fu) and/or with a bunch of cybernetics

with adept powers you use magic to fuel your fighting abilities instead of spells(you get your magic stat in points to use on powers)

with cybernetics you just need to worry about money and how much essence(lower your essence the harder it is to heal you) you have left

I was going bioware/cybernetics. Don't like messing about with the magic systems. I'm definitely tailoring it to close combat, with either a focus on 'predator style' (high mobility, close combat emphasised heavily, able to hunt down an enemy if they try to run, firearms skill restricted to pistols and light rifles) or 'tank style' (front on assualt, comfortable with heavy weapons, low mobility but high health). Basically just a choice between Fragile Speedster or Mighty Glacier, really. But I will be loading up with as much 'ware as I can manage, no doubt about it. Only problem is I don't want the character to be too important, because I cannot guarentee that I will always be able to play.

Are you going to play?

Problem with going heavy on Cyberware is that you lose most of your Essence, and leave yourself really vulnerable to essence drain and other kinds of Magic.

It's a careful balancing act between maintaining your metahumanity, and keeping competitive. Very balanced system, in many respects.
