Gravecinders: Thirst Upon the Blazing Plain
« on: May 27, 2013, 04:41:54 pm »

Story Starts on Page 3 Post 44

Hello Folks I am starting a Succession Game!

This is how it works. I will put up for download our stating
copy of Dwarf Fortress with the first year played. The next person in the list
then manages the fortress for the next year. And so on until the fortress
falls.

After you have downloaded our Dwarf Fortress, all you need to do
to pass it to the next person is upload the save folder to this thread. The
game is set to autosave annually. Please note I want each year completed within a week.

Included are a couple Utilities:

Dwarf Therapist , which greatly improves handling your
dwarves jobs

DF Hack: a very advanced utility for the game. Only touch if
you know how to use it. and try not to abuse its properties

For our own sanity we are using Ironhand Graphics

Player List:

    ORCACommander
    ReaverAxis
    falafelsandwich
    Pufferfish
    kilozombie
    Ozarck
    Cmega3
    Auquathug
    Sumyunguy

When you take over the fort please put your dwarf in the
Overseer noble position. Other than that you are free to build our dwarven
civilization as you wish.

Count me in, as long as we're not embarking in Evil or a glacier.   :P

How about an aquifer desert? We'll have all the trappings to make an obsidian farm and a booming glass industry!

I'd vote volcano over desert.  Don't mind aquifers if somebody else busts through it, don't want to be responsible for a engineering catastrophe  ^^

volcano is not exclusive over dessert by any means though :P Found a site that meets all of that. even has hematite and flux. just no running water.

Still need 3 more people though

You might consider not using a ginormous map.  That thing's going to be 30-40 megabytes or more to download.  (Plus... you want us to download the whole game folder?  Why?)  I would join if you decide to start a game with a pocket or small size world.

You think 40 meg is a lot to download?  Didn't think people were still using 28.8k modems :)

I am expressing some interest. I read Boatmurdered recently. I am fairly new to DF (been playing since about january), and have never done a succession game before. I believe I will have time to complete a year w/in a week. Mark me as the annoying younger brother: "Hey guys! watcha doin'? I wanna do it too!"

well joe the large the maps the more interesting terrain i can generate and i can ignore the world gen and not hit c or t every 3 minutes :P also a full game download because i would prefer us to use a standard installation,i am a paranoid about compatibility and version compliance and before i tried posting this on a site to get a bunch of people into the game on another website.

Cmega and Ozarck you fill up the last spots :) eh the islands are kinda boring in that you don't really have much in the terms of neighbors. I take it you saw the center of the archipelago? :P

i've never done a glacier and falafel does not want to do a glacier. Anyway i am out of town for the weekend so i will put the folder up for download in a rar archive when i get back sunday night and you guys can have first hand details on prospecting then.
