Bah, it's been long enough. Sorry cake.

To anyone who wants to join later- if any players die you can sign up as their heir. For this reason, anyone who does not have a last name please give one,so the heir mechanic will make sense

Any sneaky action is to be sent to me. There will be two rolls, one for success and one for discovery. if the discovery roll is 1-2, you will be discovered. if it is 3-6, you will not. However, lower non-discoverey rolls may leave some clues, and harder actions may mess with these numbers a bit. You can take multiple actions during your turn, but do keep it reasonable, as you can only be at one place at any given time without magic or divine intervention. Monsters, the undead, and necromancers are known to exist, but no other sentient races have been discovered. To build something in your fief, you must spend one week seeking out talent and resources to build it, then you may spend your money and begin construction. This is done so I don't have to mention prices beforehand. Also, for purely game play reasons, your castles will be completely destitute for no reason. A wizard did it! If I missed any core components of a castle, please tell me and they will be added. Taxes are collected every month.

Go out and help people. Then buy a slave that's within my budget.

While I'm fixing things up, I will also add a courtier list, list of library books, and list of plants to the character thingies. Any more suggestions will be appreciated

Would we own any lands in addition, being feudal lords?

((How about Derrik Dark? Nice and alliterative and consonant.))

Personally survey the region near my castle, which must have people and something worth protecting or there wouldn't be a castle. Negotiate a tax, payable in food or coin, in exchange for such services as conflict mediation and protection from attacks (as was standard with castle-owners). Search for a priest to install in my shrine, and a servant, if I don't have any of the latter. For that matter, determine the status of my staff. Also try to acquire some crafting contracts and the raw materials to do so, for some extra cash. If this is successful, begin work on them, praying to Sphestus as I work.

For the sake of simplicity, actions done that will increase the prosperity of your lands will add more to your taxes at the end of the month. Also, because I really don't want to have to write a complex web of subordinates for every player, the feudal lords below you are faceless. I will add a fief category in your character sheets, which will mostly contain notes

Honor does not merely come from good deeds for the purposes of the game, completed quests and shows of grandeur will also increase it.

First, call a meeting of my lords and get a report on the goings-on in their counties. Get a priest who knows the rites for pleasing Arkos to be installed in my shrine, and have him get to work right away. Seek out a trustworthy knight without a lord to join me at the castle, unless I already have one. It doesn't matter how well-to-do he is, so long as he isn't scum. Meet the current staff at my castle, especially the captain of the guard. See about constructing a training ground for my men. Scope out the area immediately surrounding the castle. Forest? Swamp? Other? See about hiring a professional blacksmith and setting him up in the castle. Hire or appoint a servant as the gardener.

You are too high-up of a lord to have only one village under you.

How high up then? Baron level or just local lord? Congressman or state governor?

One notch below the King, this is still back in the day when nobility were the land owners.
