Dear diary, truly these past few weeks have been a trial.
I will never understand the elders, when I came back from the dwarves, having traded for trinkets and exotic weaponry, a copper dagger and spear, the first thing they noticed wasn't how I had managed to bring metal to us as a gift to our leaders of war against the horrors, but that one of the things the dwarves had given to me as a gift was made of featherwood!
They gave me a pretty simple deal though, be entombed inside a trees roots for a few centuries with nothing but water and mold to sustain myself with, or take the dagger and spear and never return. And that's how I found myself in the wilds, with nothing but the traded weapons and the clothes on my back after thrown out.
Many days did I travel, hungry and thirsty, until I finally ran what had to be a sign from above, a piece of map carried by the wind landed right on my face, and after translating the dwarven runes, I have to say that the refuge being offered by this "Bloodspire" seemed a much better option than wandering for the rest of my life, alone and in hostile lands.
I am quite sure I know enough to which direction I should go in order to get there. Just to keep myself company, I will be writing this diary of my journey, it is better than having to walk through this desolate, dead landscape that seems to surround me no matter where I look.
Day 1: Stumbled upon a human settlement, gained some idea where I was and where I should go. It won't be an easy trip though, lot of dangerous area to walk through, and a few goblin towers, not to mention the dread dwellings of necromancers.
It is soon evening, I found a human fortress, and thought of trading of my meager items for some nourishment, it has been days since I last had anything to eat. But the fortress is as empty as the land around of it is empty of life. I found a few bags containing some human clothing and trinkets, and figured they had left this place in a hurry and wouldn't mind if I took some. While the clothes were too big, I did get a nice buckler of metal. Not dwarven made, but still, it is a pretty nice shield.
Day 2: Dear diary, I took refuge in the hamlet of Basementdent, and I must say, this journey is going to be a test to both myself, and- no, just to myself. The farmers here live solely from what they can get from the fell lands, they are few but hardy, but so is their crop and they are unable to spare any no matter how I plea.
I gained directions to what should be a proper city in the distance, I will head there next, however the trip will take me right next to a goblin tower. I will have to use all my skills I learned as a trader in the past to not be spotted.
Oh guardians of this land, please help me.
Day 2, continued: That was too close. The goblins had a stray patrol going through the area, and we noticed each other at the same time. Luckily I knew more than enough how to run like crazy, and managed to elude the lasher who was right behind me until I dove down a hill and sneaked away.
Found the river I am supposed to cross in order to reach the human civilization, having never swam before a stream as strong as this, I pray for safety from the spirit of this river to keep me safe through this ordeal.
I found the city, or what is left of it. I believe I am not as fluent with the tongue of men as I thought, because I was sure there would be people, markets, FOOD here. Nothing but ruined buildings and signs that there used to be people here, until evil got the best of them.
As it is night soon, I will be taking a short rest here before I continue, there has to be at least one shopkeeper nearby who has a fistful of berries for a hungry elf!
Day 2- I mean 3, midnight: Dear diary, I think this was not one of my best of ideas.
I thought that these "bogeymen" were just stories to scare human children, but what I hear all around is all too real. I am going to try and make a run for it, there was supposed to be a fortress near here, maybe there are people there instead of this ruined place!
I know there are, I won't die here, not like this!
