No matter what, you ABSOLUTELY need to get a death sickle. It makes having a berserker MUCH easier to deal with all through world 1 and 2.

Also, bulb, I'd guess his wind was Knight, since Time Mage is a fire job, Berserker is a water job and Knight is a wind job. :P

Yeah, Knight was my wind job. Link.

Anyway, I just beat that worm by switching from 2 knights to 2 time mages. One had a healing staff, the other broke rods. Took five rods to get the job done, but by hasting everyone but the berserker and slowing the sandworm, I had enough healing to survive the sandworm's attacks.

And I've already got two death sickles. You know, in case I want to run 2 berserkers before I reach the earth crystals. IIRC I beat liquid flame by switching my party to 3 berserkers and 1 knight and just trying to kill it before it killed me. The knight's job was to throw potions around.

EDIT: Just got my earth job. Another berserker, because berserker risk. Am I correct in assuming that Gilgabot goes 'haha' when you roll a zerker normally and 'HAHAHAHAHAHA' when you get it through berserker risk?

Rolling right along, these mages are pretty nice.

At least until Magissa. Her silly husband slaughtered the entire party. ~sigh~

Oh man, that death sickle really saved my ass at the crystal guardians.  Had my knight constant guard/cover, and my zerker eventually deathed all 4.(After my third attempt of trying this strategy)

There comes a time when you must take off the soft, furry slippers of a boy and put on the shoes of a man.
Unless of course they don't fit properly and your feet blister up like bubble wrap.
Oh ho ho, but don't try to return the shoes, because they won't take them back once you've worn them.
Especially if that fat pig Tony is at the desk.

I still don't get how Chemist is supposed to be so overpowered. I guess if you grind for dragon fangs, dark matter, turtle shells and enough gil to buy 99 of everything ever, maybe? But it really seems like everything would burn through items fast, and fights would take too long to start doing serious damage.

I'd say there are teams that can't beat the game, but one guy beat Shinryu and maybe Neo-Shinryu last year with one knight and 3 berserkers.
No matter what modifiers you put on, you're guaranteed at least one of the wind crystal jobs and all of those can solo the game.  The damage output from the triple berserkers even makes the hardest runs (WM and thief) a bit less tedious.
Cower in fear.

You know, I'm sensing Irony right now.
To be honest, it hasn't been that hard so far.  BM is one of the easier solos, and the few fights that are normally tedious due to magic immunity (i.e. archeoavis' undead form) get sped up by the berserkers.  I might have trouble with Shinryu and Omega, but beating the game shouldn't be too hard.

Some of the crazy game-breaking stuff requires farming for turtle shells/dragon fangs/dark matters, but you can usually save those for the toughest bosses.  Even regular healing items can give you stuff that's considered "best ability" for other mages.
Use this chart

With just basic world 1 restoratives, you've got
Level +10 (can stack)
Unblockable berserk
Absorbing fire, ice, and lightning
Full HP revival
Revival with full MP restore
X-Potion
+50% magic attack
Float
Confuse

Then you factor in all the cool stuff drink does (drinks can be bought for ~100 gil early in world 2 and you'll collect a few in world 1).  If you're willing to farm dark matters you can solo Shinryu and Omega, with the backup of a FJF party you don't even need to do that.  Chemists may not be flashy or have easy to use "press A to kill enemies" abilities, but they've got the best support abilities and a way to wreck every enemy in the game, and no other class can say that.

Got to water, now I have Summoner in addition to my original Black Mage. This will be interesting.

I won, barely :) Had it pretty easy with my classes though, X-Fight and blue magic are so good. That berzerker was doing 6000 crits on neo-exdeath at quite an impressive speed with the hermes sandals. I'm fairly sure she did >50% of the damage in the final fight.

Well congratulations on being the FIRST VICTORY OF BAY12. The OP has granted you the NEO EXDEATH tag

I ended up buying out of Thief and into Mystic Knight in an attempt to bypass all the difficulty Byblos was giving me with just White Mage/Thief.

I also stream this at http://www.twitch.tv/logical2u (or at least I will once the internet at my house is fixed...), and I don't really intend to advance too far without streaming since it helps keep me honest (e.g. about using savestates and speedup) for the race I'm still doing.

It can bypass neoexdeath, and pretty much all bosses.

Hahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHOOHOOHOOHAHAHAHAAHAHA.

Got my wind job started. It's Thief. For anyone paying attention to my competition with Ochita, our "who can beat neo shinryu and omega on natural berserker risk at the LOWER LEVEL THAN THE OTHER PERSON" competition just got a lot harder for him.

Sorry, Ochita.
