I bought the game and it comes with a 7 day trial to give away. It's up for grabs if anyone is interested. If multiple people are interested I'll draw it at random.

I'm interested. I'd love to try the game out before deciding to buy it.

I like EvE onlines char editor(though I might be a bit biased) and looking at this one it seems lacking compared to EvE's(you can do a free trial to play around with it if you want to.)

They're about equal in my opinion.
EVE has slightly more flexibility when it comes to your body and limbs (really, it is just that BDOs sliders are a bit shorter) and I really miss the ability to change the age of my character in BDO, but BDO has a really awesome designer for editing your hair.

I also desperately wish both games had more and better clothes/costumes.

I'm probably only one who actually didn't like EVE character editor, at all.

But mostly because for one reason: You can't control the height of your character. That REALLY annoyed me. And I also (and this one is more personal) couldn't get a character I liked at all, that I preferred to look at. They were all middle aged or sorta old looking characters, couldn't make a young looking one at all. Don't remember how old I could make them look, don't think you could make an old character. And I couldn't make a Gandalf male either, which is the best male :P My characters (both female and male) in BDO (and modded Skyrim, and modded Fallout 4) looks vastly better than anything in EVE, but this one is probably more personal.

However, maybe that is the character design's "fault" and my personal opinion of "ugly" characters and not so much the editor's fault...but it should still have allowed you to change height. I mean, yeah a lot of MMOs don't...but like WoW, different races are different heights, so it works out anyway.

Granted as far as character design goes, I prefer the anime, elven or cartoon look of characters (for female). Or, the elven, gandalf or undead/liche look for males...EVE obviously is not any of that :P BDO has a lot more variety there, because you can get all of that from the editor/character design and options.

Anyway enough of that...as far as BDO...

As for the community goes. On Orwen the community is really awesome, which I'm surprised by cause usually new MMOs have a sucky community and PvP based MMOs almost always have an even worse community. But almost everyone is really mature and friendly. Uno is really awesome too from when I was on there. Though if you play on Edan, community is pretty terrible. I hopped on to check it out, and left as quick as I came lol. But most of the hardcore pvp and massive guilds went there, so no surprise :P But the other two are good.

Orwen is the "unofficial" RP server, which I've seen quite a lot of RP going on actually (on Calph 2) out in the world even. I didn't even see out in the game world RP in WoW RP servers (and Erping between two guys one with a female character doesn't count :P). Its actually one of the first MMOs I've seen like that, especially for an unofficial server. Only other MMO that I saw that was Lord of the Rings Online, but usually RP happens in whispers or guilds.

Uno is server most of the newer people join since it shows up first. I saw a ton of trial people there, but it had a really friendly community. It also seemed a lot more of a "casual" crowd than the other two servers, and more laid back. I'd probably have stuck with Uno if I knew that otherwise, but I still like Orwen and its cool to see random RP out in the game world.

Now that I've actually seen a bit of it besides the description here, I kinda wish I wasn't going to be as busy as I'll be with actually important stuff next week. Looks pretty dang neat.

So... I actually bought this.  Anyone want a guest pass?

The game client is about 31-32GB, which is probably important information for some folks.

So Orwen is the unofficial RP server on US?  That is probably where I am heading.  (I'm not really an RPer myself, I just prefer a more mellow/not-as-griefy community.)

Yeah, Orwen and specifically Calph 2 is the unofficial RP server. The community is mostly good, though I should say that people troll about politics in chat sometimes. But that is any MMO or any social media, if you mention current US politics and a certain candidate...in any game or anywhere even facebook, you can create a many huge discussion just by saying the name :P But if you ignore that, I see a lot of random RP happening out in the world and the server is a lot better than most PvP servers tend to be.

Uno is probably most mellow/less griefy of the three though. I kinda wish I went there instead tbh, but oh well. I'm still new enough I guess I could, but heh. With that said, I did check a couple times on the server, and haven't been on it in a few days to look. So it might be different or just time of day kinda thing, but I liked it a lot there when I checked it out.

I'd like one, but I'm not sure when I could use it.

Interestingly enough, there is a 14 day period you can get a refund, but that right is waived when the guest pass is used.
(Also gave the pass to Aklyon, if you end up not using it, reckon there might be someone who'll want it.)

EDIT: Finally downloaded.

And oh, apparently I gotta waive my rights to the 14 day refund when I first boot up the game.  *Shrug*

There's some good ideas in the game. I like the concept of workers, nodes, contribution points, trading. That kind of thing would be good to see in a sandbox game like GTA, ESO, or Mass Effect/Dragon Age (presuming those games were more sandboxxy than action RPG fare - think NWN2's keep or the Storm of Zehir expansion). Too bad it is tied up behind the eastern MMO grind with that Energy thing.

Conversation/amity is a weird minigame. I'm slowly understanding it, but I don't like how much of an energy sink it is. If the requirement is "fail to spark interest [more than 1 time]" you may as well cancel out since that goal is such bullshit when 90% of the available knowledge for that NPC (even with all knowledge unlocked) have >75% chance to spark interest by default. When I mentioned this elsewhere, I was told "Well, if RNGesus wants you to lose, you're going to lose" and sure, if my favour/interest rolls are bad that might be the case, but this is giving me a goal that is nigh-on impossible to fulfill. It doesn't even make sense: I'm specifically having a conversation to bore this person, and they'll increase their friendship with me for it?!

Crafting is also a huge energy sink and dumb on top of that because only you personally can make most of the interim processing products, some of which are required to make the things only workers can make, not to mention that a lot of products can't even be collected by workers (like hides, sap, blood, freaking basic stone even though they can mine ore). Also suffers from dumb UX issues like if a recipe takes 1 each of 4 things, and you put in 5 things at a time, it'll consume all ingredients and still only output 1 item. Considering the energy sink (1 energy per combine and using "continuous production") I can understand this but it should have used only 1 of each and gave me back the rest.

Character editor is meh. It's an okay concept with being able to manage individual parts, especially on the face, but I didn't find it all that versatile. Hair colours especially: only the black and brown were remotely realistic, everything else was anime colours. Maybe the yellow/blond to but when I got into the game, the blond I had selected for my valkyrie ended up being this bright luminescent thing that didn't really match what I saw in the editor. I also very much missed any kind of "random" option. Champions Online had that capability, which let you cycle through a bunch of random choices until you find something different enough that you can tweak it a bit more to your liking, and it did have individual part manipulation (I forget how much it had for the face, though).

Also a bunch of dumb UX issues. Can't open the minimap (and thus do most anything with workers) while fishing... despite fishing being pretty well designed for being hands off (even if you can actively fish for faster results). Only one keybind per action (atrociously inexcusable in a PC game), some actions you can't even rebind (like using something that makes more sense than escape to navigate "out" of browsing nodes on the map - like right click or space, for example). Some issues with the autorun system. Can't skip the cutscene summoning the black spirit, even though you can skip out of similar cutscenes with every other NPC (you can even skip out of reading "boss summon" scrolls); at least I was able to rebind that to something other than comma so I wasn't hitting it on accident half the time I wanted the map. Can't rotate the available knowledge during conversations except by the arrow buttons, instead of - oh, I don't know - the freaking scroll wheel.

I could use a guest pass

I have no idea if this game is worth playing or not and I REALLY would like a play through before I sink money into this.

It's pretty fun. My biggest complaint is that despite the focus on trade/crafting, you can only trade most items through the marketplace, and at fixed prices.

No doubt somebody here has a trial key. If not, you might try the black desert reddit.

Good luck with the reddit one, miles of unconfirmed requests.  I actually looked there first, then just decided screw it.

I be fishing when I get off for the night/work.  Have to leave it on though, but you'll auto-fish and can sell that stuff for decent monies, at least decent for a level 14.  I assume it'll still help out in the long run, at least with fishing/trading levels I gain. ... The trading levels might just be from the trade goods and not fish though.  I do both that at the same time. (I'm horribad at manual control with the fishing mini-game.)

The fighting is action-like, similar to Tera.  You can definitely circle around big guys to avoid its frontal attacks, none of that bullshit as soon as you get into 'range', they let off their attack and hit you 100%, despite you doing the sensible thing and GTFO its attack/hit range.  At least I havn't noticed that sort of thing... I've only faced 2 things way bigger then me so far, boss fights.  Maybe some 'medium', but I just outright faceroll them/shrug off their counterattacks at this time.
There are evasion type moves, but I havn't bothered to see if its got invisibility frames.
I like the combat system so far.  You can hotkey moves to the traditional 1 through 0 buttons... but, each move has alternative buttons you press together to activate it.  Which I've pretty much been exclusively doing.  I think that is pretty awesome.  Makes it more actual action-y and overall easier, in my opinion.  (Just gotta remember what buttons to press.)

I've tried out Witch and Valkyrie so far.
Witch is all about that one hit shanking... and I guess there are fireballs and magic too.  (Only up to level 10, I expect that shanking to stop being a 1 hit wonder sooner or later.  Probably a bad habit anyways...)

Valkyrie is pretty decent so far.  I can just decide to stop and tank it up, to get a feel for enemy moves.  Blocking actually blocks a heck of a lot of damage.  I took only single digit damage while in blocking mode against the 2nd boss and managed to evade the rest of its attacks(with the side swipe skill) while I was on the offense.  The 1st boss, my guard was broken through, cause I just let it whale on me.  Or maybe I took a guard breaking move.  I don't really know, it was my first hard fight.

EDIT: Nodes are a pain in the arse to set-up.  Plus I randomly connected to different Nodes...  (Though, I found out it has the convenience of allowing you to turn off Nodes from afar...)
