Here is my Sorcerer

Character editor is really advanced. I'd rate it by far best character editor I've used in any game, at least especially as far as MMOs go.Only one that can potentially beat it (that I have personal experience with) is heavily modded Skyrim, which you can create really epic characters with that as far as females go. BDO by far wins out for males imo (you can create REALLY epic males). Heavily modded Skyrim has a pretty advanced editor with mods (so hard to use though) with tons of options, and you get way more hair choices in modded Skyrim than you do in BDO (which doesn't have that many, though Witch I think gets more than Sorcerer if I recall, but they are all physics enabled as far as I've seen). Though I like how characters look a lot more in BDO overall and obviously graphics are better lol. And as a bonus, hair has actual settings to make parts of it longer/shorter...which is pretty epic

Also, I noticed some stuff you can destroy. I was fighting goblins, and I could destroy boxes and random stuff around then. I didn't try things in town yet, but I thought that was really cool. You don't see many destructibles in MMOs, let alone games in general.

Only thing people might not like (it is a pretty common complaint when its a "thing") is gender locked classes. Though some have opposites. But, only one so far with an "opposite" is Wizard and Witch which are pretty much same. And supposedly the "Archer" class (is that a thing?) is a male and the opposite of the female Ranger. But its not out yet.

IF you are editing a woman.

and are going for a very specific kind of woman.

You find out how it is a "great character editor" after you fiddle with it a bit. Mostly because it basically gives you a character already and lets you alter it. Though it only gets more limited with male models.

---

Mind you by all means... yeah it is a great character editor.

I dunno exactly what you mean, but I've come up with all kinds of various designs. Sorcerer seems most limiting that I can personally come up with, but like Ranger and Witch I've done quite a lot of different looks. And like I said, the males are quite varied.

Like here is a ranger I did which I think is kinda unique, but definitely odd look: http://imgur.com/leE0uOg

Well... you achieved that by changing the air color, eye color, and curving the lips into an odd smile, while washing out the lips

Rather then sculpting her face into say... looking like Angelina Jolie.

Wait, why is the character creator getting hated on for being limited?

Any character creator that actually lets you make stuff like this is probably pretty flexible, at least in my eyes.

It really isn't.

It is more that there is hype pushback because it is being hyped as a supreme character creator (even as far as the developers intentionally misleading people) that lets you build any sort of character you want.

I dunno. This is my ranger (which has actually ended up being my favorite class) I made the other day.

http://imgur.com/a/4jxLE

You can do a lot in the editor. At least as far as MMOs go, it is a really advanced editor. You can actually sculpt the face and stuff. Make bigger jaw/cheeks etc. It kinda reminds me of the fallout 4 editor actually lol.

And I have yet seen a clone of anyone in-game, so far all the characters I've seen are all really unique. Which most MMOs you end up with a bunch of clones lol.

I've been trying different classes out. But, you can build boats (and even a raft) and fish off them. And endgame is mostly PvP focused with guilds vs guilds. Later they will implement sieges and other PvP oriented stuff. There is pre-built housing I believe, and you can own property and change to various types of housing. Someone else be better at explaining that than me. But you can get NPC workers to work for you and do stuff.

So far to me, its like if TERA had actual action combat (not pseudo-action), with Ultima Online thrown in, Vanguard Saga of Heroes, a good dose of ArcheAge and a heavily asian feel to the game (since it WAS made in Korea after all).

About the character creator, I haven't seen really any option missing and was able to make a warrior who looks very similar to me, except with more muscle and a more gruff look - all by design.

You can do a lot with it but you have to be willing to tinker with all the options to see just how much is available. The way you change the shape of various body parts and face bits, is very intuitive and you can still use sliders if you want to.

For me, objectively, the character creator is definitely one of the most advanced, and considering that this is an MMO, this is doubly impressive (MMOs typically have less customization than solo games in my experience).

I don't know about Ultima, so I can't tell you about that, but here's my experience.

The game has many systems, and you can pretty much choose what to focus on without being forced to do the parts you don't like.

Said systems include : Combat, Resource gathering, Resource processing, Cooking, Alchemy, Fishing, Exploration, Friendship with NPCs, Questing, Housing, Guild stuff, Trading, Horse breeding/capture, Farming, PVP, and then there is the whole worker system, which is how you craft most things like tools, weapons and armor and much more.

You get a seemingly endless stream of quests for all those systems, and as you progress further along, new quests will be popping for whatever you've chosen to do. What's also interesting is that starter areas stay relevant later on, because although the mobs there will die in one hit, you'll still get plenty of non-combat things to do even in the very first village.

Conversely, you can also choose to explore higher leveled areas with a bit of caution, and do a bunch of things in places where you aren't supposed to go until further along in the story. Exploring can also reward you with rare resource nodes in places that are slightly out of the way.

So far i'm only about lvl 25 so I can't really say that I've seen everything the game has to offer, but while trying a bit of everything, I've just been up to my neck in quests and struggling to cope with the fact that for every quest that I do, 3 more seem to be popping out. What I can say though, is that if you want to get into the meat of things, this game requires quite a heavy time investment (IMO).

And finally, my final character that I'm gonna stick with. So now its time to actually play :P Granted I've done a lot on other characters already lol. I didn't really fit the Ranger role too well in BDO, guess I'm more of a magic user (didn't like Sorcerer though).

Still a Witch, but I didn't like how my other Witch came out that well. So I based this one off my Ranger a bit with some differences. I like how she looks WAY more now...maybe just me, but I like her look a lot better... so ...:P

Hearing all this talk about character creators reminds me of what I heard about Eve's once, where apparently it runs really badly compared to the rest of the game because its too high quality.

I bought the game and it comes with a 7 day trial to give away. It's up for grabs if anyone is interested. If multiple people are interested I'll draw it at random.
