I....kinda feel the exact opposite :P

I like how the wave goes continuous as well. though that may be because i play solely with friends, so we have a bit of banter on the side to keep us occupied.

I also did like the heist music. Not too offensive, and fit really tightly to the general level feel I felt.

Didn't notice any issues with map size - and that's with the improved combined, and only stamina increase sprint skill (and the no zipline use achievement.) Possibly relates to the earlier point about banter :P

People in pubs don't have the highest of expectations as long as it's not DW and you are at least mediocre.

I should probably comment on the masks and guns. Two of the masks are basically the mannequin masks with slight modifications, so I really doubt they're worth it. The gun is basically the bronco, but it has less mods, has the possibility of a laser attachment and seems (need confirmation) to reload somewhat slower.

I pubbed it, being the teamless fool that I am, and it was painful to do the pyro part... especially since for the first two attempts at making fire appear people just randomly pressed the buttons. Alesso really comes off like a douchebag in that sequence.

Just a heads up the E3 Humble bundle currently has a mask pack thrown in at the 1$ tier and another mask pack thrown in for the top tier. (but not separate from the payday key itself)

Donuts didn't make it clear when they posted yesterday, but the shitstorm was over counter strike-like weapons crates that dropped weapons with different skins and slightly better stats. Except you could only open those by buying keys with real money. Apparently Overkill decided that the best way to fix it (since it seems they are unwilling to remove the safes) is to add the keys to the end-of-heist loot drops. So... yay? I guess we'll have to see how frequently these things drop.

Might as well list the crimefest stuff released thus far:
-The safes
-Weapon rebalancing
-A new weapon customization interface
-5 Masks
-The Aftershock Heist
-AI teammates can now trade hostages
-A new LMG
-LMGs no longer make you slower
-A deployable bipod for LMGs
-The First World Bank Heist (!) from the first game (revamped, I guess?)
-Drill (safe key) loot drops

Still 4 more days of stuff to go.

So basically, the new slightly better weapons will make it easier to hit the sweet spot with the other guns?
Can't complain about keys dropping at the end.  As long as they don't nerf the vanilla guns and/or scale difficulty on the assumption that we are supposed to have these crate weapons...

Also, turn off auto-update for Payday 2 for the win.  All them updates can be a killer.

I don't know if you've had a chance to give the rebalanced game a spin, but my (brief) impression is that the single word "rebalance" doesn't quite do it justice. The rebalance is a little, er, crazy. Shotgun nerfs, many assault rifles turning into bullet sprinklers (not accurate enough to be a hose), pistols getting massive buffs, normalizing the ever-living heck out of melee, etc. etc.

My main qualm with adding the crates (and now keys) is that they're another option on the loot chart. In other words, you're getting less end-of-mission loot overall. Not a fan of that.

Oh... so there was rebalancing of some sort?  (I havn't been paying the slightest attention.  I have constant connection problems which kills my interest for this.)  I've been mostly using the broom stick anyways, so pistol buff sounds cool...

I haven't examined the new stats for the guns very carefully (I don't play much anymore) but I'm not sure this is true, or rather I suppose more accurately I'm not sure this is exactly a bad thing.

For example, previously the car-4 was godmode gun. You could have literally perfect aim, minimal recoil, and one of the highest (non-lmg) ammo capacity + ammo pickup rates in the game plus still hit the magic 40 damage breakpoint. It was not even a high level gun, I think you unlocked it at level 4 (basically, after 1 mission) There was no reason to ever use anything else, except just for fun. And while car-4 was the worst example, most guns basically fell into one of two catagories: 1. hits perfect stats, good gun 2. does not hit perfect stats, crap gun, never use it ever.

Shotguns were just poorly implemented (and probably still are). I'm not sure how they nerfed them, but the locomotive was a secondary that was honestly better than most primary weapons in the game so I'm not sad if it got nerfed.

Again, I want to stress that I've not looked at the new stats for the guns - maybe they did make everything terrible, I don't know. But they really did need to rebalance weapons, and the only way to do that was to nerf the top tier guns because they were just too good.

They didn't make everything terrible, but there is a lot of wonky stuff.

Broomstick, for example, is now a high ammo reserve, low accuracy, mid-damage pistol - at a glance, basically a worse Bernetti. That's not so much because its damage was nerfed, but more that other semi-auto pistols now do ~100 damage per shot with the pistol damage perk.

Meanwhile, one of the higher ROF primary shotguns does about 25 damage per shot while only having 8/80 ammo and poor other stats but the Mac 10 does 42 damage per shot with and has twice the ammo reserve. The loco does about 60 damage per shot, which is okay but pretty underwhelming compared to many of the pistols/smgs.

Some of the rebalancing is good, some bad, some outright strange.

Broomstick was really bad before the rebalance too (IIRC you either had good accuracy + crap damage, or really bad accuracy + decent damage), which is too bad because it's fun to use :(

100 damage for pistols sounds like a lot, but I'd have to see the other stats too, like ammo, accuracy, etc. You could already get 80+ damage with bronco/deagle with decent accuracy before the rebalance so it's not like it's automatically overpowered. Edit: 80 damage without the MM trait, that is. And 80 damage is effectively equal to 100 damage because of damage breakpoints.

Shotguns are problematic, both because the shotgun talents are so good (flat +35% damage, +75% damage for a few seconds after a kill which means it's up most of the time) and because every shotgun pellet does full damage. So for example, 25 per shot vs 42 on the mac-10 sounds like the mac-10 is way better... but if you can reliably hit two guys per shot with the shotgun it's up to 50 per shot, and that's before the awesome shotgun skill in the awesome shotgun tree (while smg skills are meh, and in a garbage tree). They also do have downsides (damage dropoff being a big one), but it's something to think about before automatically saying they suck.

I guess I should probably load the game up and check it out at some point.

In any case, the formerly-exclusive-to-cash-shop drills now have a chance to drop.

This was very obviously planned, to fan out the flames of adding microtransactions after saying they won't add microtransactions.
